Caoimhe/Keeva

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone

I’m feeling the name Caoimhe/Keeva today, especially with the nickname Kiwi!! What do you think of it?

I do like the traditional Irish spelling but I like the anglicized version too! Which do you prefer?

As for middles, I’m thinking

[name_u]Keeva[/name_u]/Caoimhe [name_f]Emily[/name_f]
[name_u]Keeva[/name_u]/Caoimhe [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_u]Keeva[/name_u]/Caoimhe [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_u]Keeva[/name_u]/Caoimhe [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]

But I’m very open to suggestions!

Thank you

Kiwi is a very cute nickname! Definitely Caiomhe for me, I’m not a huge fan of “americanized“ spellings.

I struggle so hard spelling [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] right on the first try, even after years of seeing it! I really like the look of [name_u]Keeva[/name_u] so I’m going against the grain and saying [name_u]Keeva[/name_u] [name_f]Emily[/name_f]!

I thought [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] was cow-im-hee. No thanks.

Caoimhe [name_f]Emily[/name_f] is stunning :heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes: I also like both spellings, so personally I’d go with what’s regionally usable for you?? If [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] is unlikely to have many issues, I’d stick with that one, as it does look prettier imo

Oh Kiwi is such a DARLING nickname! I prefer the traditional [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] over [name_u]Keeva[/name_u], although both are beautiful. This is just my personal view, as I’m not Irish, so my opinion is less important, but I feel weird about anglicising names from a perviously marginalised group. However, this isn’t a political post so I’ll leave it at that.

I agree that [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] [name_f]Emily[/name_f] is PERFECT!

I love this name! The spellings give me different vibes. [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] is feathery and comforting while [name_u]Keeva[/name_u] is bright and spunky. I like both but I think I prefer [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f]. [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] is great. [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] are some others I like.

Caoimhe [name_f]Emily[/name_f] or [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] are splendid! I am not a fan of the [name_u]Keeva[/name_u] spelling.

While [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] is lovely, I think it’d be very hard to wear outside of [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]. I think [name_u]Keeva[/name_u] is actually quite pretty! [name_u]Keeva[/name_u] / [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is my favourite of your options.

I love this name too and I’ve had the same conundrum about which spelling I’d use. For now I’ve landed on, if I was using it as a first name I’d use the [name_u]Keeva[/name_u] spelling, but if I was using it as a middle name I’d use [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f]. (For context: I’m Canadian.) I hadn’t thought of Kiwi as a nickname but it’s sweet.

Caoimhe [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is gorgeous! I like [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] with it very well too. Some others, for fun:

Caoimhe/Keeva [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
[name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f]/Keeva [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
[name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f]/Keeva [name_f]Mireille[/name_f]
[name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f]/Keeva [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]

If you live anywhere on the British Isles, [name_f]Caoimhe[/name_f] but anywhere else I’d go with [name_u]Keeva[/name_u]. Kiwi is cute, too!

Caoimhe is a beatiful word in print. Is it said [name_u]Keeva[/name_u]?

It would depend. If I lived in [name_f]Ireland[/name_f], I’d use the C spelling, but if I lived in the US, I’d use [name_u]Keeva[/name_u].

Or maybe give the child her option of the two at a later date.
