Cara, Caia, or Calla

Which (if any) of these do you like? We had our heart set on Clara and a close friend just named her baby that! No one’s fault and no one told each other our contenders but it’s a bummer. I won’t go with Clara but I’m ok with something similar as we don’t see them too much. She’s fine with Clara but it’s lost its glow for me. So that brings us to these!
Cara. Is it dated? I think Cari is a cute nn though.
Caia. I feel this is on the rise and could be a cool name. But…indont know if it’s “pretty”
Calla. Growing on me…but a lot say it’s "incomplete ".

I love [name_f]Cara[/name_f]! I actually prefer it to [name_f]Clara[/name_f] depending on the accent. [name_f]Cara[/name_f] has such a lovely Irish meaning of “friend” and it’s so underused, but effortlessly elegant. It’s a quietly punchy name with subtle gravitas in my opinion! The strong “car” beginning slices through the air like carving a pumpkin. It’s quite satisfying to say.

Meanwhile, [name_f]Caia[/name_f] or [name_f]Calla[/name_f] are not my style.

Some middle name suggestions:

[name_f]Cara[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Cara[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Cara[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Cara[/name_f] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]

[name_f]Caia[/name_f] is my favourite. It sound really sweet and “cutesy”

But [name_f]Cara[/name_f] seems the closest to [name_f]Clara[/name_f], in terms of sound (if you’re pronouncing them the same) and looks. And [name_f]Cara[/name_f] doesn’t feel dated at all to me. So, I vote [name_f]Cara[/name_f] for you

I really like [name_f]Caia[/name_f] (I knew a Caya, and although I prefer [name_f]Kaia[/name_f], I always love names that have that -aia spelling). [name_f]Calla[/name_f] is sweet too. I’m not a fan of [name_f]Cara[/name_f], I find it a bit dated, and I used to work for a company with this name, haha, so now the name is completely ruined for me personally. If [name_f]Calla[/name_f] feels incomplete, you could always go with [name_f]Calista[/name_f], [name_f]Calixta[/name_f], [name_f]Calliope[/name_f], [name_f]Caledonia[/name_f], [name_f]Calida[/name_f], Calanthe–lots of sweet [name_u]Cal[/name_u]- names to choose from. It’s a shame about [name_f]Clara[/name_f] but these options are lovely (and maybe fresher, as much as I love [name_f]Clara[/name_f] I feel like everyone has it on their list right now–myself included). I hope you can find something you love as much.

I do feel like [name_f]Cara[/name_f] is a bit dated, but [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] aren’t and [name_f]Cara[/name_f], [name_f]Cari[/name_f], and [name_f]Calla[/name_f] could all be perfectly viable nicknames for either of those. [name_f]Carina[/name_f] could also get you to [name_f]Cara[/name_f] and [name_f]Cari[/name_f], and I’ve always been fond of [name_f]Calista[/name_f] with [name_f]Calla[/name_f] or [name_f]Callie[/name_f] as nicknames.

I’ve thought less about [name_f]Caia[/name_f] but you could probably get to it from some of these too - [name_f]Carina[/name_f] feels like the straightest line to it IMO.

[name_f]Cara[/name_f] (and Cari) honestly does feel a bit dated, though I think the C- spelling actually helps in my eyes. I find [name_f]Caia[/name_f] very pretty, especially with this spelling, but have a soft spot for [name_f]Calla[/name_f]. I just love the way [name_f]Calla[/name_f] rolls of the tongue, it feels so sweet and fresh.

I like [name_f]Cara[/name_f] for the sweet “friend” meaning.

I love [name_f]Calla[/name_f] so much, it just feels so special to me :yellow_heart: You could use it with or without the nn [name_f]Callie[/name_f]. I also like Callie/Kali as a full name.

Not as keen on [name_f]Cara[/name_f] or [name_f]Caia[/name_f]. I do like similar names [name_u]Kaya[/name_u], [name_f]Zara[/name_f], [name_f]Chloe[/name_f], [name_f]Cassie[/name_f], [name_u]Casey[/name_u], [name_f]Camilla[/name_f] and [name_f]Cady[/name_f] (Cadence)

I personally think [name_f]Cara[/name_f] might be too close to [name_f]Clara[/name_f], which might get the other person thinking you’re trying to steal their name somehow (even though you wanted [name_f]Clara[/name_f] first)
I personally LOVE [name_f]Calla[/name_f], which has been a name on my list for a while now, and [name_f]Caia[/name_f] is also very cute but I personally prefer the [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] spelling.

If you feel [name_f]Calla[/name_f] may not be complete enough you can always use it as a nickname, and use a longer name for the official name. For example [name_f]Caliana[/name_f]. Same goes for [name_f]Cara[/name_f] actually if the person may find [name_f]Cara[/name_f] as a full name to be too close to [name_f]Clara[/name_f], you could use a longer name and nickname them [name_f]Cara[/name_f]?

Ooh i love [name_f]Caia[/name_f]! Soft but sparky and the c spelling does give it a pretty vibe

[name_f]Calla[/name_f] is my favourite! [name_f]Callie[/name_f] is also a super cute nickname! I also like [name_f]Caia[/name_f] nn [name_u]Cai[/name_u]. [name_f]Cara[/name_f] is personally nms but [name_f]Cari[/name_f] is cute. I wouldn’t worry about it being dated as all names eventually become ‘dated’.

This is hard !

I feel a strong pull towards [name_f]Cara[/name_f] ! So that is my number one. I think it is the closest to [name_f]Clara[/name_f] . I also feel that it’s underused and stunning !

[name_f]Caia[/name_f] has grown on me since reading where the Crawdads sing by [name_f]Delia[/name_f] [name_m]Owens[/name_m]. I have only met one [name_u]Kiah[/name_u] in real life but honestly the book made me appreciate the name

[name_f]Calla[/name_f] I think is very in right now ! [name_u]Nature[/name_u] names are certainly popular and on trend . To me though I just feel it’s cute but incomplete and I want to tack on [name_f]Lily[/name_f] to the name

Out of these I love [name_f]Calla[/name_f]! If you think it’s incomplete maybe you’d like a long version like [name_u]Callahan[/name_u], [name_u]Callaway[/name_u], or something like that. But if you love it and it’s just other people who are saying it feels incomplete I say to just go with what you like! I also like the other two a lot, [name_f]Cara[/name_f] slightly more than [name_f]Caia[/name_f].

Loveeee Cara!

I absolutely love [name_f]Calla[/name_f] !!

Sorry it’s not on your list, but I have to suggest [name_f]Claire[/name_f], because it is so closely related to [name_f]Clara[/name_f], but it is a separate name in its own right.

[name_f]Claire[/name_f] is a classic in my opinion; feminine and tailored at the same time. It has history, but does not sound dated. I think it beats out any of the three names you suggested. Certainly, I feel [name_f]Claire[/name_f] is more different from [name_f]Clara[/name_f] than [name_f]Cara[/name_f] or [name_f]Calla[/name_f].

[name_f]My[/name_f] vote is for [name_f]Calla[/name_f]
