Cara questions?

[name]Don[/name]'t feel like you have to answer all of these, but I have a lot of questions about the name [name]Cara[/name] that I’ve been loving recently!

  1. [name]How[/name] do YOU pronounce it? I know some people say care-uh (me included) and some people say car-uh (which I also like)
  2. [name]Do[/name] you think it would get misspelled as [name]Kara[/name] a lot even though [name]Cara[/name] is the original? Which do you like better? [name]Do[/name] you prefer [name]Caroline[/name] with the nickname [name]Cara[/name]?
  3. Does it feel dated?
  4. [name]Do[/name] you like it?
  5. Would it go with my kids’ names? Sibset would be; [name]Audrey[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name], [name]Jude[/name] [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Christian[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name], [name]Violet[/name] [name]Annabelle[/name], [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Isaac[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name], and [name]Cara[/name] [name]Hazel[/name] (middle name I have paired with it for now)

Thanks so much!

I pronounce it car-uh, but care-uh is sweet as well. I like it and don’t think it’s dated at all. As a nn for [name]Caroline[/name] I think it’s a bit of a stretch but could work, however I think [name]Cara[/name] would best on it’s own. [name]Audrey[/name], [name]Jude[/name], [name]Christian[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Felicity[/name],[name]Isaac[/name] and [name]Cara[/name] would make a great sibset.

I say Care-uh…I prefer it on its own over as a nn for [name]Caroline[/name]. I think it’s a lovely name!

  1. I say care-uh
  2. I haven’t really seen it spelled with a K much, so I’d go straight for the C spelling. I do think using [name]Caroline[/name] feels a little more classic.
  3. It does feel a little dated for me. I think of it like [name]Tara[/name]…another 80’s-90’s name
  4. I don’t dislike it, but it hasn’t made my list
  5. I think that it works ok. Your other children have beautiful classic names that feel under used and fresh, but [name]Cara[/name] feels a little dated and trendy to me in comparison.

Hello, there! This is my name so I hope I’ll be able to provide some helpful insight

1. [name]How[/name] do YOU pronounce it? I know some people say care-uh (me included) and some people say car-uh (which I also like)
My name is pronounce care-uh, but people (such as at the [name]Doctor[/name]'s office or first day of school attendance) do often mispronounce it, but I find once you correct them, they never make the mistake again.
2. [name]Do[/name] you think it would get misspelled as [name]Kara[/name] a lot even though [name]Cara[/name] is the original? Which do you like better? [name]Do[/name] you prefer [name]Caroline[/name] with the nickname [name]Cara[/name]?
Yes, it does get misspelled often. I like it with the “C” better. I prefer it as a standalone name.
3. Does it feel dated?
I think the “K” spelling feels more dated than the “C”.
4. [name]Do[/name] you like it?
I used to not like it, but it’s grown on me in the last few years. I like that in the sea of Amandas, Sarahs, Olivias, Ericas and Emilys of my time, it stands out. I think this would be true of today in the sea of Isabellas, Olivias, Kaileys and Sophias. I also like the meaning (dear friend).
5. Would it go with my kids’ names? Sibset would be; [name]Audrey[/name] [name]Cecilia[/name], [name]Jude[/name] [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Christian[/name] [name]Nathaniel[/name], [name]Violet[/name] [name]Annabelle[/name], [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Isaac[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name], and [name]Cara[/name] [name]Hazel[/name] (middle name I have paired with it for now)
I do like these names together! I like that they are not all overly popular, yet recognizable.

  1. I always pronounce it car-uh.
  2. Yes, sometimes. I love both [name]Caroline[/name] nn [name]Cara[/name] or [name]Cara[/name] as a stand alone name.
  3. No.
  4. YES. I like it, especially beacause of the meaning.
  5. A bit too short compared with other names, but it’s okay.
  1. CAR-uh. Never heard it pronounced CARE-uh.
  2. I like [name]Cara[/name] and [name]Kara[/name] equally. On the other hand, I’m not a fan of [name]Caroline[/name].
  3. Not dated at all.
  4. Indifferent.
  5. I think it does!

My name is [name]Cara[/name]. I’ve always loved it though it is most often mispronounced Care-a. My Sicilian mother chose my full name [name]Cara[/name] [name]Mia[/name] after the Italian term of endearment. The correct (Italian) pronunciation is Car-a. The Care-a pronunciation is much more common. I’ve always preferred the true pronunciation. “[name]Cara[/name] [name]Mia[/name]” is also a well known Italian love song. Care-a passes in [name]America[/name] as long as the person does not claim to be named for the meaning of the name. If you like the meaning and origin of “[name]Cara[/name]” the correct pronunciation is Car-a. If you like it purely for the sound, Care-a is nice too.

  1. I pronounce it “care-uh”.
  2. I don’t think it would be misspelled too often. I prefer it over [name]Kara[/name]. I like it alone as well as a nickname for [name]Caroline[/name]. If I had a daughter named [name]Caroline[/name] I would most likely call her [name]Cara[/name] as well or [name]Carys[/name] which means love.
  3. It doesn’t feel dated to me.
  4. I like it. I’m 27 and there were two in my sixths grade class one spelled [name]Cara[/name] and another [name]Kara[/name] and they were both sweet girls and I have not come across another [name]Cara[/name] since so it’d be refreshing.
  5. I think it works well with the sibset but I think [name]Clara[/name] would work even better. That is my husband’s favorite girl name because he wants to call her Claradactyl as in pterodactyl haha.
  1. Pronounce it “care-uh”
  2. Most names are spelled incorrectly from time to time, so I don’t think it will be misspelled more than any other names. Prefer it as a stand alone name.
  3. It does feel a bit dated. I believe it was most popular here in the U.S. in the 70’s and 80’s.
  4. Not a favorite, no strong negative feelings.
  5. Doesn’t seem to have the same “feel” as your other names. [name]Cora[/name], [name]Coral[/name], [name]Clara[/name] would be more in keeping with your other names in my opinion.
  1. I have always pronounced it car-uh.
  2. It might get spelling differently but all names do from time to time. I prefer [name]Cara[/name] because it’s the original and [name]Kara[/name] wouldn’t go with your other kids’ names because it seems to trendy. I prefer just [name]Cara[/name] to [name]Caroline[/name].
  3. No to me. I have only ever met one [name]Cara[/name], spelt [name]Caragh[/name] because she was Scottish. She was a young girl so that probably why.
  4. I have always like this name and it was a contender for one of my twins. However I wouldn’t use it now because I already have a [name]Caleb[/name] and I have a strong dislike to same letter siblings.
  5. I think it would work well with your children’s names because it has the same kind of feel to it. However you already have a C name which puts me of it a little.
