Yes, it’s pronounced the same
We actually pronounce it the same
Thank you for your insight, yes the postpartum period is crazy! She’s 3 months now and I feel like we are coming out of the fog a little bit more. I still think about the spelling every day, but I’m still undecided and my husband leans towards keeping it [name_f]Caraline[/name_f]. It’s just whenever I see it spelled it just looks “off” to me.
So she’s 4 months now and I’m still having regrets and wish it was Caroline…I think. If I could go back I would choose [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. I just feel bad if she’s mad at us for changing it! What would you guys suggest?
Thanks,
[name_f]Kendra[/name_f]
If you still wish it was [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], then just change it. I dont think she will be upset when she’s older at a spelling change, as it hasnt changed her name, just made her life easier. And if when she’s older she wants something more unique she can always go by a more unique nickname
It’s up to you. I’m sure people will get used to it and she’ll probably like her name. It’s not that time consuming to say “Caraline, with an A instead of an O”. It’s not like you named her Cairraghlyne.
Would I personally change it? To be honest, yes. But if you don’t it’s fine! She’ll be fine! There’s [name_f]Stephenie[/name_f] [name_u]Meyer[/name_u] after all and other less used variants.
Something I wasn’t sure about, to be honest, was the pronunciation. [name_m]Just[/name_m] something to consider. When I read [name_f]Caraline[/name_f] I first though [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]. And [name_f]Cara[/name_f] pronounced kah-ra, so more like ka-rah-line and that it might be similar to [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]. I do love [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]!
[name_f]Do[/name_f] what your heart tells you is right.
