Names I’ve been liking lately (some totally out-of-character choices, some old favorites that are particularly on my mind) – in case anyone would like to share their thoughts.

[name]Miriam[/name] [name]Belle[/name]
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Jessamine[/name]
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
Macrina [name]Lily[/name]
[name]Sadie[/name] [name]Anastasia[/name]
[name]Harriet[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]

[name]Timothy[/name] [name]Ronan[/name]
[name]Ronan[/name] [name]Timothy[/name]
[name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]George[/name]
[name]Leander[/name] [name]Michael[/name]
[name]Owen[/name] [name]Jabez[/name]

Thanks guys!

[name]Miriam[/name] [name]Belle[/name] - It flows well but I honestly can’t see a little [name]Miriam[/name], whether she had a cute nickname like [name]Miri[/name], [name]Mia[/name] or whatever.

[name]Julia[/name] [name]Jessamine[/name] - I don’t like the double J’s. [name]Julia[/name] is a classic and sophisticated choice.

[name]Claire[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - Compared with the previous two, this is rather boring.

Macrina [name]Lily[/name] - I’m not sure how to pronounce this. [name]Marina[/name] [name]Lily[/name] would be okay. Not really into words as names but meh.

[name]Sadie[/name] [name]Anastasia[/name] - [name]Sadie[/name] is too adorable and [name]Anastasia[/name] is gorgeous. I love [name]Sadie[/name] as a nickname for [name]Sara[/name] or [name]Seraphina[/name].

[name]Harriet[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] - I like both names, [name]Eleanor[/name]/[name]Eleanora[/name] a lot more than [name]Harriet[/name]. I’m not sure where you live but I don’t think a little [name]Harriet[/name] would fair well in the States. [name]Eleanor[/name] would be a great first name.

[name]Timothy[/name] [name]Ronan[/name] - Sounds great. [name]Tim[/name] isn’t my first choice for a name but that’s just my personal taste.

[name]Ronan[/name] [name]Timothy[/name] - Now, I like this one more. [name]Roan[/name] is a great nickname, too.

[name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]George[/name] - Who doesn’t like a little [name]Nate[/name]?

[name]Leander[/name] [name]Michael[/name] - No one ever likes [name]Leander[/name]! Finally! [name]Michael[/name] is a little boring as a middle name but this combo is great.

[name]Owen[/name] [name]Jabez[/name]- [name]Adore[/name] [name]Owen[/name]. I think its popularity has died down this year and since I’ve only met one [name]Owen[/name] and he’s older than I am, I think you’re good on that front. Not sure of the origin of [name]Jabez[/name] so I don’t know how it’s pronounced but either way, if you like it, go for it. It’s an interesting middle name to have.

[name]Sadie[/name] [name]Anastasia[/name] is my choice for the girls and [name]Ronan[/name] [name]Timothy[/name], [name]Owen[/name] [name]Jabez[/name] and [name]Leander[/name] [name]Michael[/name] for the boys.

The name that stands out most to me on your list is [name]Julia[/name] [name]Jessamine[/name]. [name]Both[/name] are gorgeous names. I like the double Js and think the combination flows very well.

On your boys’ list [name]Timothy[/name] [name]Ronan[/name] is my favorite; although, I think I’d prefer [name]Timothy[/name] [name]Michael[/name] or [name]Timothy[/name] [name]George[/name].

[name]Miriam[/name] [name]Belle[/name] - [name]LOVE[/name] it. I adore the nn [name]Mim[/name]

[name]Julia[/name] [name]Jessamine[/name] - Classic first name, not sure about the alliteration with the second name

[name]Claire[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - I really like this name and have seriously considered it for my children. I prefer the spelling [name]Clare[/name].

Macrina [name]Lily[/name] - [name]Haven[/name]'t heard this one before. Brings to mind Macaroni - sorry!!

[name]Sadie[/name] [name]Anastasia[/name] - Nice

[name]Harriet[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] - [name]Love[/name] it.

[name]Timothy[/name] [name]Ronan[/name] - I love the name [name]Ronan[/name] and would therefore vote to use [name]Ronan[/name] [name]Timonthy[/name] instead.

[name]Ronan[/name] [name]Timothy[/name] - Ha ha. Didn’t see this one when I made the above comment!!

[name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]George[/name] - Great name and has great nn’s.

[name]Leander[/name] [name]Michael[/name] - A little girly for me.

[name]Owen[/name] [name]Jabez[/name] - [name]Owen[/name] is a name I have had on my list for a long time!!

[name]Hi[/name]!

[name]Miriam[/name] [name]Belle[/name] - Something about an M so close to a B doesn’t flow well for me. [name]Do[/name] you hear it? I think [name]Miriam[/name] is an interesting choice - especially with other Hebrew names, like [name]Naomi[/name] and [name]Ezra[/name] - but [name]Miranda[/name] [name]Belle[/name] might sound better.

[name]Julia[/name] [name]Jessamine[/name] - Fun! I love [name]Julia[/name], [name]Jessamine[/name] is so neat, and the alliteration is great!

[name]Claire[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - A classic, strong name - not too boring, yet not too unusual. [name]Lovely[/name].

Macrina [name]Lily[/name] - I think [name]Lily[/name] is a little overdone, myself, and Macrina reminds me of macrame. I can’t say I like this one, sorry!

[name]Sadie[/name] [name]Anastasia[/name] - Wow! This name is fit for a “princess” for sure. I like the addition of the extremely frilly [name]Anastasia[/name] along side the vintage nickname [name]Sadie[/name], but for some reason I see [name]Sadie[/name] [name]Annabel[/name] being a more realistic choice. [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Anastasia[/name] seems more accurate, style-wise, but still a nice name!

[name]Harriet[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] - Such a classic, vintage name. I’m having a hard time imagining a little [name]Harriet[/name], but [name]Hattie[/name] is so sweet. This sounds incredibly British to me, and I like it a lot. I think her sister would be [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]…

[name]Timothy[/name] [name]Ronan[/name] - I’m not a [name]Timothy[/name] fan, myself - it sounds a bit dated to my ear - but this combination is truly stunning!

[name]Ronan[/name] [name]Timothy[/name] - [name]Ronan[/name] is a nicer first name, I think, and again, this combination is swell. [name]Ronan[/name] [name]Patrick[/name] or [name]Ronan[/name] [name]Elliot[/name] would be nice, too…

[name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]George[/name] - I love [name]Nathaniel[/name], and [name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]James[/name] is on my list, so I’m a huge [name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]George[/name] supporter! Well done.

[name]Leander[/name] [name]Michael[/name] - If I were a guy, I can’t say I’d like to be named [name]Leander[/name]. I think this just isn’t my style, though. Something like [name]Leland[/name] [name]Michael[/name] would be sweet, and [name]Ronan[/name] [name]Patrick[/name] would make a nice brother!

[name]Owen[/name] [name]Jabez[/name] - Where did [name]Jabez[/name] come from? I’m unfamiliar with that name. I love - seriously! - [name]Owen[/name], though, so I’m totally in favor of this. I think [name]Owen[/name] could have a brother called [name]Rory[/name] or something more classic like [name]Patrick[/name] and maybe a sister called [name]Blair[/name]! Cool name…

[name]Lemon[/name]

[name]Miriam[/name] [name]Belle[/name] ” [name]Miriam[/name] is very pretty, not a huge fan of [name]Belle[/name] though. However, it flows nicely.

[name]Julia[/name] [name]Jessamine[/name] ” I adore [name]Julia[/name]. I don”t really like [name]Jessamine[/name] but I do like the JJ alliteration.

[name]Claire[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] ” I love [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name]! [name]Lovely[/name] combination, would also work great the other way around.

Macrina [name]Lily[/name] ” What does Macrina mean? I did a quick search and it doesn”t appear to have a meaning? [name]Lily[/name] is lovely though. [name]Marina[/name] [name]Lily[/name] would be gorgeous.

[name]Sadie[/name] [name]Anastasia[/name] ” I dislike this combination, as [name]Sadie[/name] is purely a nickname to me, and I don”t really like [name]Anastasia[/name].

[name]Harriet[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] ” I love both names, and think this is a beautiful combination. [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Harriet[/name] would be preferable to my ears though.

The one of your boy names I wish to comment on is [name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]George[/name] . I love this!!

[name]Hi[/name] everyone! Thanks for responding.

[name]Lemon[/name], the m-b is actually a sound I really like”I guess it”s just a taste thing. Oh yeah, and the [name]Miriam[/name] nickname I currently favor is [name]Mira[/name] (with [name]Mimi[/name] as a cutesy nickname).

[name]Julia[/name] [name]Jessamine[/name] is one of very few alliterative combos I like. [name]How[/name] are you guys pronouncing [name]Jessamine[/name]? I”d thought it was [name]JESS[/name]-a-min, but apparently it”s jess-a-MEEN”?

[name]Claire[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is a long-term favorite of mine. My only problem is that then I couldn”t use [name]Elizabeth[/name] as a fn for another daughter”sigh.

For everyone who was confused about Macrina ” it is not, in fact, a typo for [name]Marina[/name], nor have I begun to slip into kreatyvyteigh. [name]St[/name]. Macrina was an early [name]Christian[/name], a nun and a sister to [name]St[/name]. Naucratius, [name]St[/name]. [name]Peter[/name] of Sebaste, [name]St[/name]. [name]Basil[/name] the Great and [name]St[/name]. [name]Gregory[/name] of [name]Nyssa[/name] (their grandmother was [name]St[/name]. Macrina the [name]Elder[/name], their father was [name]St[/name]. [name]Basil[/name] the [name]Elder[/name], and their mother was [name]St[/name]. Emmelia – a lot of saints AND a lot of interesting names in that family). I kind of like it, but everyone I”ve asked in real life dislikes it, and that seems to be the consensus here as well”ah, well, it was really just a passing fancy anyway. (And I actually am not a fan of [name]Lily[/name]; it just sounded right with Macrina for some reason. Oh yeah, Kaybee – I believe that it’s a diminutive of Macra, but I don’t know what Macra means.)

I usually dislike [name]Sadie[/name] and feel sort of neutral toward [name]Anastasia[/name], so I don”t know why I liked that combo. [name]Lemon[/name], I think you got it when you mentioned the pairing of a vintage nickname-name with a frilliana middle.

[name]Harriet[/name] is one of my favorites as well, but I can”t seem to find a middle I like with it. (I”m open to suggestions. :))

I love [name]Timothy[/name]. Pairing it with [name]Ronan[/name] was new for me, and I like the reversed way as well ” actually, I think I like [name]Ronan[/name] [name]Timothy[/name] better as a combination, but then I couldn”t have a little [name]Timmy[/name]”aw. Well, it”s something to think about ” thanks for weighing in, all.

I also love [name]Nathaniel[/name] ” thanks for the vote of confidence on that one. I don”t know about [name]George[/name], though”.

Alexandramae, I know! [name]Leander[/name] is such a great name, and I don”t understand why it doesn”t have more of us fans, heh heh. And yeah, this is another first name I can”t find a suitable middle name for ” I don”t know if I”m crazy about it with [name]Michael[/name]. Those of you who don”t like [name]Leander[/name], how do you feel about [name]Lee[/name] or [name]Leo[/name] as a nickname?

[name]Owen[/name] is a name I go through cycles with ” sometimes I like it, sometimes I don”t. I”m surprised to see so many berries liking it because it seems too mainstream for this group”s general taste”not that I mind the positive reactions. [name]Jabez[/name], [name]Lemon[/name], is a (sort of obscure-ish) character in the Bible. His name isn”t one of my favorites, it”s just that I was looking for boy names that have two syllables and put the stress on the second one.

Thanks again for commenting!

@mnemosyne

Hey, to each his own with the MB debate! I just said [name]Miriam[/name] [name]Belle[/name] again a few times, and it didn’t bother me as much as it did before, but I’m not 100% in love with the combination. I like how the romantic [name]Belle[/name] dresses up the more no-nonsense [name]Miriam[/name], but at the same time, something like [name]Miriam[/name] [name]Abigail[/name] or [name]Miriam[/name] [name]Violet[/name] really appeals to me.

Oh, it’s jess-a-MEEN? I’d been pronouncing it with an emphasis on the “jess” portion, as you had earlier. I thought they were both right, but I think either way works with [name]Julia[/name]!

[name]Claire[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] does essentially rule out [name]Elizabeth[/name] as a future first name, but it is really lovely. [name]Claire[/name] [name]Matilda[/name], [name]Claire[/name] [name]Evelyn[/name], and [name]Claire[/name] [name]Penelope[/name] are others I thought of, and so many names work with [name]Claire[/name]!

Thanks for the information on Macrina! It still makes me think of macrame, but I like the history of the name!

Sounds like [name]Sadie[/name] [name]Anastasia[/name] won’t be on your list for long! Other nicknames you might like are [name]Sosie[/name], [name]Sally[/name], [name]Maisie[/name], [name]Molly[/name], [name]Junie[/name], [name]Josie[/name], [name]Libby[/name], [name]Ellie[/name], [name]Evie[/name], [name]Edie[/name], [name]Gigi[/name], [name]Ginger[/name], [name]Ginny[/name], [name]Rosie[/name], [name]Polly[/name], [name]Poppy[/name], [name]Winnie[/name], [name]Tillie[/name], [name]Millie[/name], [name]Marnie[/name], [name]Laurie[/name], [name]Hattie[/name], [name]Charlie[/name], and [name]Lottie[/name]. I’m not usually in favor of nickname names as first names, but something like [name]Edie[/name] works well - it has a touch of sophistication and sweetness to it! Now, a name with feminine flair, like [name]Arabella[/name], [name]Cassandra[/name], [name]Estella[/name], [name]Fiona[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Juliana[/name], [name]Katharina[/name], [name]Lucinda[/name], [name]Ophelia[/name], or [name]Viviana[/name] would be pretty. [name]Edie[/name] [name]Cassandra[/name] is my favorite, but [name]Molly[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] and [name]Sosie[/name] [name]Arabella[/name] are both sweet!

What could [name]Harriet[/name]'s middle name be? Some ideas are [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Annabel[/name], [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Alice[/name], [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Bryony[/name], [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Corinne[/name], [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Frances[/name], [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Gwendolyn[/name], [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Irene[/name], [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Katherine[/name], [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Phoebe[/name], and [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Sylvie[/name].

PS [name]Lee[/name] and [name]Leo[/name] don’t make me swoon for [name]Leander[/name], either. I think I prefer it as a middle name. [name]Owen[/name] [name]Leander[/name] is fun!

[name]Lemon[/name]

[name]Miriam[/name] [name]Belle[/name]: I really like [name]Miriam[/name], but [name]Belle[/name] is kind of dull and doesn’t really seem like a name. What about [name]Miriam[/name] [name]Claire[/name] or [name]Miriam[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]?

[name]Julia[/name] [name]Jessamine[/name]: I love this combo!! [name]Julia[/name] is one of my favorites, and [name]Jessamine[/name] is great. I like the alliteration, too.

[name]Claire[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]: I like both [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name], but the combo itself seems boring.

Macrina [name]Lily[/name]: What is Macrina? It reminds me of mackerel and macaroni. Also the macarena. I like [name]Lily[/name], though.

[name]Sadie[/name] [name]Anastasia[/name]: I much prefer [name]Sadie[/name] as a nickname for [name]Sarah[/name] or even [name]Isadora[/name]. It just seems so insubstantial on its own. [name]Anastasia[/name] is very nice.

[name]Harriet[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]: I really like [name]Eleanor[/name], but with [name]Harriet[/name], the combo seems a little musty. What about [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Lily[/name] or [name]Claire[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]?

[name]Timothy[/name] [name]Ronan[/name]: Very nice!

[name]Ronan[/name] [name]Timothy[/name]: I slightly prefer [name]Timothy[/name] [name]Ronan[/name].

[name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]George[/name]: I really like this!

[name]Leander[/name] [name]Michael[/name]: I adore [name]Leander[/name], but for some reason [name]Michael[/name] sort of ruins it for me. What about [name]Leander[/name] [name]Owen[/name] or [name]Leander[/name] [name]George[/name]?

[name]Owen[/name] [name]Jabez[/name]: I’m not so much of a fan of [name]Jabez[/name], but [name]Owen[/name] is nice.

My favorites are [name]Julia[/name] [name]Jessamine[/name] and [name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]George[/name]!

[name]Lemon[/name] ” Wow, thanks for all your suggestions! I like some of the nicknames you mentioned, but I think they work better as nicknames. Actually, I”m probably less accepting of nicknames as full names than a lot of people ” I prefer [name]Kate[/name] to be short for [name]Katherine[/name], [name]Eliza[/name] to be short for [name]Elizabeth[/name], and even [name]Tessa[/name] to be short for [name]Theresa[/name]. For me to like a nickname on its own, it has to be quite well separated from its parent name (I wouldn”t feel the need to put Aethelthryth or Etheldred on [name]Audrey[/name]”s birth certificate, for instance). Names like [name]Sadie[/name] and [name]Molly[/name] for me inhabit a twilight zone, because they sound like (and are) nicknames, but they”re not really associated with their parent names anymore (at least, not outside name enthusiast circles). [name]Molly[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] is really sweet though ” I love [name]Genevieve[/name]. And as for [name]Harriet[/name]”s middle name, I like your suggestions (especially [name]Harriet[/name] [name]Alice[/name]), but nothing really feels quite right to me. Oh well ” I have several years before I even need to think about this anyway. Thanks for your help, though!

Irisrose ” Hmm, [name]Belle[/name] doesn”t seem like a name? But yay, you like [name]Julia[/name] [name]Jessamine[/name] too. For Macrina, scroll up a bit and you”ll see my background on the name. I think you”re right about [name]Michael[/name] not being the right mn for [name]Leander[/name], thanks for helping!

Sorry for rushing, all!

[name]Miriam[/name] [name]Belle[/name]- I love it so very much!
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Jessamine[/name]- You know, I think [name]Juliette[/name] [name]Jessamine[/name] nn [name]Julie[/name] would be wonderful!
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]- very common, [name]Clara[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] has more appeal
Macrina [name]Lily[/name]- I cringe over the fn, sorry.
[name]Sadie[/name] [name]Anastasia[/name]- My favourite on the girls side
[name]Harriet[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]- I could never name my daughter [name]Harriet[/name], but I don’t hate it

[name]Timothy[/name] [name]Ronan[/name]- I love [name]Ronan[/name], I think it is such a handsome name
[name]Ronan[/name] [name]Timothy[/name]- see comment above, I like the combo better
[name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]George[/name]- basic, but nice
[name]Leander[/name] [name]Michael[/name]- I love this the best
[name]Owen[/name] [name]Jabez[/name]- When I see [name]Jabez[/name] I think of [name]Jezebel[/name], which I know, is not fair, [name]Jabez[/name] is a wonderful name!

Blessings,

[name]Bella[/name] <3

My 24 year old daughter is named [name]Mazie[/name] (named for a great aunt born in 1899). She loves her name. Everyone who meets her for the first time compliments it. Everyone remembers her name. She has only met one other [name]Mazie[/name] in her whole life - spelled [name]Maisie[/name]. If you like this name, give it to your baby. She will thank you for it.

[name]Miriam[/name] [name]Belle[/name] - Not a fan of [name]Miriam[/name] but I love [name]Belle[/name].
[name]Julia[/name] [name]Jessamine[/name] - I like [name]Julia[/name]. [name]Jessamine[/name] is okay. What about [name]Julia[/name] [name]Jess/name?
[name]Claire[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] - [name]Love[/name].
Macrina [name]Lily[/name] - Reminds me way too much of the macarena. Like [name]Lily[/name] though.
[name]Sadie[/name] [name]Anastasia[/name] - Really like it.
[name]Harriet[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name] - [name]Both[/name] outdated but I do like [name]Eleanor[/name].

[name]Timothy[/name] [name]Ronan[/name] - [name]Timothy[/name] seems plain. [name]Ronan[/name] is okay. What about [name]Roman[/name]?
[name]Ronan[/name] [name]Timothy[/name] - Since I like [name]Ronan[/name] better I’d go this one. I like [name]Roman[/name] [name]Timothy[/name] better though.
[name]Nathaniel[/name] [name]George[/name] - Very cute.
[name]Leander[/name] [name]Michael[/name] - Adorable.
[name]Owen[/name] [name]Jabez[/name] - Like [name]Owen[/name]. [name]Jabez[/name] for some reason reminds me of [name]Jezebel[/name].
