Carmilla or Carmela?

Which one do you prefer? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like the names?

I’d say [name_f]Carmilla[/name_f]! I’m biased because I love vampires and Gothic literature, but I think the literary association makes [name_f]Carmilla[/name_f] feel really elegant and classic, whereas [name_f]Carmela[/name_f] has a slightly dated sound to me? Plus, I love the nickname [name_f]Millie[/name_f] / [name_f]Milly[/name_f] you get with [name_f]Carmilla[/name_f]!

Personally I prefer [name_f]Carmela[/name_f]! I like the simple elegance it has, and how it works in many languages. Very warm and sweet, and traditional yet underused.

I do think [name_f]Carmilla[/name_f] is cool as well – I like the gothic vibes it has. I’ve never come across it before, but I’ve always thought the rhyming Sharmila had a really nice sound and [name_f]Carmilla[/name_f] is the same way – there’s a nice sharpness without it sounding harsh. I can see [name_f]Carmilla[/name_f] being mistaken for the more common [name_f]Camilla[/name_f], though.

I guess it depends if you want the Gothic, literary, vampire vibe of [name_f]Carmilla[/name_f] or the sunnier, warmer feeling [name_f]Carmela[/name_f]?

I slightly prefer [name_f]Carmela[/name_f] but both are pleasing

Between [name_f]Carmilla[/name_f] and [name_f]Carmela[/name_f], I prefer [name_f]Carmilla[/name_f]. I love the name because of its connection to the gothic literature which is another thing that I love. I prefer the spelling [name_f]Carmella[/name_f] over [name_f]Carmela[/name_f] but I also like this name!

are you pronouncing them the same?

[name_f][/name_f]

I don’t like neither, but if I have to choose, then [name_f]Carmela[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- car-mell-a

I like the sound personally of [name_f]Carmela[/name_f] better :yellow_heart:

[name_f]Carmela[/name_f]!

[name_f]Carmilla[/name_f] is my preference – she just feels a little brighter, and has the lovely nickname [name_f]Millie[/name_f]!
