I’ve always loved my auntie’s name [name]Caroline[/name] and wanted to use it some day as an honoring name, but it rhymes with my surname and sounds silly.
I like [name]Carolyn[/name], though I don’t think it has the timelessness of [name]Caroline[/name], and I also like [name]Carola[/name], which I think is pretty and uncommon. I’d pronounce it [name]Carol[/name]-uh.
Which of these two names would you choose, if you had to?
Thanks!
I would use [name]Carolyn[/name]. [name]Charlotte[/name] is also a female variant of [name]Charles[/name], like [name]Caroline[/name]. I would use [name]Charlotte[/name].
I would use [name]Carola[/name], as the -lyn ending names are so popular at the moment, but it sort of minds me of Crayola, and I don’t think either name really has the beauty and classic feel of [name]Caroline[/name] - personally, I’d be tempted to use [name]Caroline[/name] in the middle, whether it rhymes with your surname or not.
I think the only variation which does match [name]Caroline[/name] in loveliness is [name]Charlotte[/name], which [name]Fay[/name] mentioned. You could also use [name]Cara[/name], which is nice but not mind-blowing, in my opinion.
Good luck! [name]Auburn[/name]
When I saw [name]Carola[/name], I first pronounced it like Corolla the car, and I think many people might make that mistake or have that association. And I’m afraid I’m just not a big fan of [name]Carolyn[/name], possibly because my name is [name]Caroline[/name] and is often, annoyingly, mispronounced as [name]Carolyn[/name]! I also find [name]Carolyn[/name] to sound less classic and somewhat dated (I know so many middle-aged Carolyns.) But I love [name]Fay[/name]'s suggestion of [name]Charlotte[/name]! Or maybe [name]Calla[/name], which can be a nn for [name]Caroline[/name] but is also a lovely name on its own!
[name]Carolyn[/name] because [name]Carola[/name] sounds made up and similar to Crayola (the crayons) What about just [name]Carol[/name] or a form of it [name]Charlotte[/name]?
I’m going to go with [name]Carolyn[/name]!!! <3 it’s my mother’s name.
[name]Carola[/name] does remind me of crayola btw
Thanks, everyone.
I like the [name]Charlotte[/name] suggestion or shall use [name]Carolyn[/name] as a mn.
[name]Carola[/name] does produce pronunciaition difficulties, I can see that now!
[name]Charlotte[/name] is more popular than [name]Carolyn[/name]… if that means anything to you. Again, my personal preference is towards [name]Carolyn[/name], but you really can’t go wrong with either name.
[name]How[/name] about [name]Carla[/name] or [name]Carlynn[/name]? I know some people with these names and it sounds so cool when you call their names!
Thanks - [name]Carla[/name] is worth a thought!
I didn’t see anyone had suggested [name]Carolee[/name]. It’s my aunt’s name, and she goes by either [name]Carolee[/name] (Cah-ruh-lee) or [name]Carol[/name]. I’ve never heard of anyone else with the name, and I think it’s lovely.
[name]Alexis[/name]
I like the [name]Charlotte[/name] suggestion or you could give your daughter your aunts initials, a subtle but sweet way of honoring her
