Carolina/ Cora?

I just saw this in a comment on the question of the week: [name]Cora[/name] used as a nn for [name]Caroline[/name]. I’ m wondering if others find this acceptable?

If so, then yayyyyy!!! I have loved [name]Coralie[/name], nn [name]Cora[/name] SO much, but my number one boy name is [name]Charlie[/name] and I am not willing to compromise on him, so I threw [name]Coralie[/name] out because they sounded too similar. But I also love [name]Carolina[/name], which I think is different enough from [name]Charlie[/name].

So could I name my someday daughter [name]Carolina[/name] and call her [name]Cora[/name]?

I don’t think its an obvious nickname but I guess there’s no reason it wouldn’t work.

I do much prefer [name]Coralie[/name] or [name]Coraline[/name] with the nn [name]Cora[/name] but that’s just me.

caroline is and always be a an amazing name but annoying at the same time…every.single. caroline I know is always telling people how to pronounce it…people are lazy by nature and always making it carolyn sounding…she’s always “[name]Caro[/name]-[name]LINE[/name]!” so I wouldn’t do it because of the butchering she will have to endure…but that’s just me I love [name]Cora[/name]…and [name]Coralee[/name] is awesome or [name]Coralie[/name] whatever thats super cute and I’ve never heard that

The nn [name]Cora[/name] doesn’t make a lot of sense as a nn for [name]Caroline[/name]/[name]Carolina[/name] to me, but I have heard others say it’s fine, so maybe it’s just me with the problem with it, haha. [name]Carolina[/name] and [name]Cora[/name] are very pretty!

I think it works! I love “stretchy” nicknames, but honestly, [name]Cora[/name] as a nickname for [name]Carolina[/name] isn’t a huge stretch at all!

You guys don’t know how much this has made my day. I saw the comment and made this post right as I was aboit to head to work and all day I have been sitting at my desk writing [name]Carolina[/name] and [name]Cora[/name] on every free corner of paper.

I have [name]Cora[/name] back and it makes me SO happy!!

I don’t see how you’d get [name]Cora[/name] from [name]Carolina[/name]. I do like [name]Carolina[/name] nn [name]Cara[/name], [name]Carrie[/name], or [name]Lina[/name].
What about [name]Coraline[/name] nn [name]Cora[/name]?

I definitely think you could have cora as a nickname for carolina. My nickname that my family uses for me is totally different than my actual name, so I dont see a problem. [name]Coralie[/name] is very cute as well:).
