Caroline as a sister for Clare and Katharine

Would [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] be too similar for a hypothetical sister to [name_u]Clare[/name_u] and [name_f]Katharine[/name_f]? Brothers are [name_m]Paul[/name_m], [name_m]Mark[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Andrew[/name_m] and [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m].

I don’t like how [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] repeats an initial and many of the same sounds with [name_u]Clare[/name_u] but my husband and I both adore the name and there isn’t another obvious favorite. As I learned naming our last two, after naming so many babies finding a mutual favorite is amazing.

[name_u]Clare[/name_u] is a teenager so it’s not like they will share peer groups. My friends already mix up [name_u]Clare[/name_u] and [name_f]Katharine[/name_f] so I’m not worried about that.

Other names I love are also eliminated. I love [name_f]Grace[/name_f] but not with [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] especially as he would be only a couple of years older than her. I love [name_f]Mary[/name_f] but not with a son [name_m]Mark[/name_m]. And I also love [name_f]Annie[/name_f] (hubby loves this one too) as a nn for [name_f]Anne[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f] or [name_f]Annemarie[/name_f] but probably not with [name_m]Andrew[/name_m].

Thanks for your thoughts. I’ve wondered about this one for ages. I’m also open to suggestions based on the names mentioned.

I think [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] sounds different enough to not cause confusion. I also think [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] work! [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] would be pretty.

I would not personally use [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] as it seems to close to me…to both of your other daughter’s names. But it’s not the end of the world. Here’s some other classic suggestions that might help with your dilemma:

[name_f]Hannah[/name_f] (a nice alternative to [name_f]Anna[/name_f]/[name_f]Annie[/name_f])
[name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]
[name_f]Beth[/name_f]
[name_f]Naomi[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Emily[/name_f]
[name_f]Susan[/name_f]

I think that [name_u]Clare[/name_u], [name_f]Katharine[/name_f] and [name_f]Beth[/name_f] or [name_u]Clare[/name_u], [name_f]Katharine[/name_f] and [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] would be great sister sets.
