Caroline- Southern name?

Hubby wants to use [name]Caroline[/name] as a middle name. I do like it but for some reason it soundS VERY southern to me which is not really what we were going for. Is it only me??? I do like the fact that it will honor a grandmother though.

it doesn’t sound Southern to me at all. But maybe you’d like [name]Charlotte[/name] more?

[name]Charlotte[/name] was actually another one we considered. He liked [name]Caroline[/name] more. [name]Wren[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] vs. [name]Wren[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]…hmmmmm

I don’t think it’s too Southern or particularly Southern. I happen to like [name]Wren[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name] more I think because they don’t both end in -n like [name]Wren[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]. But I like the extra syllable in [name]Caroline[/name] vs. [name]Charlotte[/name].

It is a little southern but not blatantly so imo. My partner has an aunt [name]Caroline[/name] and they are from the South but that is really the only connection I have. I think it is a great classical name.

[name]Caroline[/name] just sounds classic and pretty to me.

I love the name [name]Caroline[/name] and I don’t think it sounds too southern. Maybe you’re thinking it sounds southern because of the Carolinas which are in the south?

I don’t think you could go wrong with either [name]Wren[/name] [name]Caroline[/name] or [name]Wren[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]…they’re both beautiful names.

I love [name]Caroline[/name]! It was on my list until we moved to South [name]Carolina[/name] and I decided that would just be weird.

I think [name]Little[/name] House on the [name]Prairie[/name], not Southern

I live in Australia and when you said it sounded southern I didn’t get it till someone mentioned South [name]Carolina[/name]. I don’t think for a minute that you should overlook [name]Caroline[/name] just because there is a state with that name in it.

In Australia we have the state of [name]Victoria[/name] and there are many, many Victorias here without a hint of it being seen as the name of a state, it would never have crossed our minds. In the state of South Australia we also have the city of [name]Adelaide[/name] and again this beautiful name is used without any reference to the city.

Go ahead use [name]Caroline[/name] or [name]Carolyn[/name] it is a great name. (It is my name). It is a classical name that never goes out of style and always sounds perfect whatever era it is used in.

Thank you people! I don’t know WHY it sounded southern belle to me- it just did. Perhaps- it is more popular in the south but not strictly a southern name ? You think it would bring to mind images of the [name]Kennedy[/name] era for me- but it just did’nt. However, I think I will pick it over another middle name because of it has family history- I just did’nt want her name sounding too “country”.

I just see a classic name, not Southern at all. [name]Carolina[/name], maybe, because of the state, but definitely not [name]Caroline[/name]. Are you maybe thinking of Miss [name]Caroline[/name] from To Kill a Mockingbird?

There have been several Carolines in my family over the last two centuries and I love that connection. So pleased that you are going to use [name]Caroline[/name].
