But, the thing is, I’ve never liked any of the 3 Carolines I’ve met. They’ve acted like they were too good for everything and made snobby faces all the time.
Is it just me, knowing rude Carolines, or is it everyone (like everyone knowing a rude [name]Jessica[/name])?
I really like it too. I find it beautiful and classy. For my part, I have a negative association with the name [name]Carolyn[/name], but not with [name]Caroline[/name].
I am so sorry to hear that you have had negative associations with the name [name]Caroline[/name]! It has been a constant favourite for generations, it is never really in the top ten names but it has never lost its appeal in general whether we are talking about the 19th century or the 21st century.
As a [name]Caroline[/name] I am happy to say that I think my mother did a brilliant job of naming me! I do not like the nn of [name]Carol[/name] but apart from that there is nothing I don’t like about owning this wonderful name.
I can assure you that not all Carolines act in an unappealing way.
I say the name [name]Caroline[/name] and [name]Carolyn[/name] the same way which I know irritates some Carolines.
I love [name]Caroline[/name]! I have never known a girl named [name]Caroline[/name], but I did go to school with two lovely Carolyns who were both very smart and seemed to be kind (one more than the other, but still). I also work with a [name]Carol[/name] who is just the best–kind, smart, funny. I would imagine a little [name]Caroline[/name] to be oh-so-sweet and smart, like a little ray of sunshine.
If you love it, I would go for it! I think parenting has more to do with how a child ends up rather than all Carolines becoming catty and bratty, kwim? Then again, I’m seriously considering [name]Caroline[/name] (nn [name]Cara[/name] or [name]Lola[/name]) for my own list, though, so I’m probably biased.
I’ve known 4 Carolines. 3 were absolutely lovely, truly some of my favorite people. The other 1 was also a nice person, just immature (but also literally, so I can’t really hold it against her for being a little “young” as a teenager when I knew her!).
So these things don’t always match up, but I’m sorry they do for you. I feel that way for certain names, I’m sure, but can’t think of examples off the top of my head.
FWIW I’m a [name]Jessica[/name] and I think I’m not too rude. I actually haven’t known that many Jessicas for how popular the name is, but most have also struck me as really sweet. Sure, one wasn’t. I wonder if you have known tons of them if the mean ones have “stood out” in your memory (could be same thing with [name]Caroline[/name]). Maybe not, just a possibility.
I don’t know if I’ve ever known a [name]Caroline[/name] in my own life. My closest association is with “[name]Little[/name] House on the [name]Prairie[/name]” like someone mentioned, and that is a wonderful association! I think it’s a really beautiful name.
I have never known a bad [name]Caroline[/name] and have no negative associations. For that matter I don’t know a bad [name]Jessica[/name] either. [name]Caroline[/name] is a lovely classic. I wouldn’t hesitate to use it. Besides, your own sweet baby will totally change the association for you.
I love [name]Caroline[/name]! I’ve never met one, nor have I ever met a bad [name]Jessica[/name]. My aunt had this same conundrum with [name]Megan[/name]. She chose it for her second daughter and then second-guessed herself because all the [name]Megan[/name]/[name]Meaghan[/name]/Meghans she’s ever know have been psycho. But now that [name]Megan[/name] [name]Marie[/name] is here she couldn’t have chosen better. She is a sweet little [name]Megan[/name]
I say if you really love the name, don’t let the associations stop you. The attitude doesn’t have anything to do with the name! And it is an awesome name
