Carys Question

Hey all! I constantly lurk, but this is my first post! My H & I are planning to TTC our 3rd child in the next few months. I’ve always loved names, & I’ve been obsessing over my hypothetical future child’s name for a while now. I absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Carys[/name], but I have a few concerns that maybe y’all can help with!

We have a daughter named [name]Keely[/name] (she’ll be 7 soon) & a son named [name]Cullen[/name] (2 & 1/2). It’s completely coincidental that both names start with a hard K sound. I’m not trying to stick with the same sound, but I love another C name this time around. Is it too much? Cheesy?

Also, our last name is Welsh, begins with C & ends in S. Too much with [name]Carys[/name]? [name]Carys[/name] C — S? The middle name will likely be a made up smoosh name from my sisters’ names - Makaylin.

I’m a little concerned about the pronunciation, our last name is always mispronounced also. But my daughter is in 1st grade & doesn’t seem to be too bothered by it. I didn’t think [name]Keely[/name] was a difficult name to say but it’s been butchered way more than I ever expected. Any advice? Suggestions? Thanks, ladies!!

[name]Welcome[/name]!

I love [name]Carys[/name], and was happy to see it mentioned on the blog today as well. However, I think with [name]Keely[/name] and [name]Cullen[/name], [name]Carys[/name] sounds too…intentional? However, I really prefer siblings names to start with different letters anyway, so having two 'C’s with all three having the same sound at the beginning is too much for me. And it sounds like it may sound a little bit of a mouthful with your last name, since they’d start and end with the same letters!

However, I don’t see any big issues with pronunciation, I think its fairly straightforward, and once people hear it they shouldn’t have any trouble remembering either. Good luck!

I think [name]Carys[/name] FN with a C____S last name may be too much which stinks because [name]Carys[/name], [name]Keely[/name] & [name]Cullen[/name] sound nice together!

I agree that the last name paired with [name]Carys[/name] might be too matchy. [name]How[/name] about [name]Cora[/name]?

I agree with the pp’s–too similar. What about [name]Clara[/name]?
