I would keep her name! It’s beautiful
I think the most intuitive nn for me would be [name_f]Ana[/name_f]. Congratulations on your little lady
[name_f]Anaïs[/name_f] is gorgeous! I’ve loved it for years. I think [name_f]Annie[/name_f] is a good and familiar nn for it.
[name_f]Annie[/name_f] totally works! But the [name_f]Anaïs[/name_f] I grew up with, the only one I’ve ever met, went by Ysi as a child (ee-see, like EC). It was adorable on her.
[name_f]Anaïs[/name_f] is such a gorgeous name. I think just finding the nickname you want to use will take away the feeling of confusion.
Wow! You all are making me fall in love with the name [name_f]Anaïs[/name_f] again. I have been so full of doubt and insecurity that it has been shading my love for her name. I think we just need to own it and be confident for her sake.
We do live in a community where uncommon names abound, so I think it will grow on people who decide to learn it.
Thank you all for your inspiration and kind words.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] call her [name_f]Annie[/name_f], it’s so much simpler, prettier and charming. If that’s the name you originally loved, go with your heart. I find sometimes less is more and it’s not too late to change it.
All of your potential nn’s are usable for [name_f]Anaïs[/name_f].
I only think of the “ah-ni” (as in [name_f]Di[/name_f] Franco) pronunciation with the name [name_f]Ani[/name_f].
So if you like [name_f]Annie[/name_f] sound best, I would vote go with traditional spelling. Plus, it’s meaningful to you!
[name_f]Anaïs[/name_f] called “Annie” so so sweet!
First of all, congratulations! [name_f]Anais[/name_f] [name_f]Luna[/name_f] is a stunning name! I agree with most people here that you should keep using her name and if you wish to use [name_f]Ani[/name_f] or [name_f]Annie[/name_f], they are intuitive and work beautifully as nicknames. When people are not familiar with a name they just don’t know how to pronounce it and don’t want to mess up, but it doesn’t mean that they dislike it. After they have been told, they know how to say it. You could choose to always use her formal name with family and friends, but on occasion when it seems easier, call her by her nickname.
