Thoughts on this? It keeps coming back to me. I like that it’s a form of one of the wisemen’s names ([name]Gaspar[/name]). My sister and I both have [name]Christmas[/name] names, so I like the connection. Plus, it has a very close tie to a dear friend of mine. I don’t think it fits particularly well with my favorites, but I can’t get it out of my head. What would you name [name]Caspar[/name]'s siblings? [name]Just[/name] out of curiosity…
I love [name]Caspar[/name]. It’s on my list, but my husband will never go for it. Part of me thinks it is still too connected to the ghost character to be taken seriously. However, I’m sure that if it were used, the association would quickly fade for those who know your son. Siblings? Hm. Maybe…
[name]Jethro[/name]
[name]Linus[/name]
[name]Sylvan[/name]
[name]Twila[/name]
[name]Winola[/name]
[name]Opal[/name]
I love [name]Casper[/name], and I would love to see more people using it. To me the name is the perfect balance of masculine, mysterious, intellectual, quirky, and handsome. The friendly ghost is an adorable character, and I never understood why that association made the name unusable. [name]Casper[/name] would be a distinguished choice. I think the name has a lot of potential.
I honestly don’t know what [name]Casper[/name]'s siblings would be named. Hmm…
Sisters: [name]Aurora[/name], [name]Matilda[/name], [name]Alice[/name], [name]Winifred[/name], [name]Cordelia[/name], [name]Odessa[/name], [name]Edith[/name], [name]Aurelia[/name], [name]Philomena[/name], [name]Iris[/name]
Brothers: [name]Ambrose[/name], [name]Simon[/name], [name]Linus[/name], [name]Bernard[/name], [name]Hugh[/name], [name]Cyrus[/name], [name]Emmett[/name], [name]Felix[/name], [name]August[/name], [name]Walter[/name]
would you have to continue the [name]Christmas[/name] theme with siblings? [name]Noel[/name]/[name]Noelle[/name], [name]Merry[/name]…sure there are more.
I like the name. I am over the ghost thing. I agree with pp, the ghost is friendly, not a bad association (if anybody under 30 actually know who the character is Along with Hot Stuff and [name]Richie[/name] [name]Rich[/name]…)
Erm, no, not likely. I mean, I do have some names that have throwbacks to [name]Christmas[/name]–I have [name]George[/name] and [name]Bailey[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] on my list, which reference my dad’s favorite [name]Christmas[/name] movie, and [name]Avery[/name], whose meaning relates to elves, and [name]Joseph[/name], which is fairly obvious. And I love the idea of getting [name]Shepherd[/name] on my list as a MN, too, somewhere. But as a whole, no, I wouldn’t want to do something that themey. I just like that it’s sprinkled around here and there, just one of the ways I like to honor family. My sister’s not the only family I want to honor, so I have other names in there, too.
[name]Caspar[/name] is amazing! It was actually one of my top names a few years ago.
Brothers: [name]Hugo[/name], [name]Everett[/name], [name]Jonas[/name], [name]Ivo[/name], [name]Reuben[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Hector[/name], [name]Elias[/name], [name]Fabian[/name], [name]Rudy[/name], [name]Julian[/name], [name]Raphael[/name], [name]Wilfred[/name], [name]Anton[/name], [name]Ivan[/name]
Sisters: [name]Lucia[/name], [name]Alessi[/name], [name]Jasmine[/name], [name]Lyra[/name], [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Nerina[/name], [name]Alice[/name], [name]Phoebe[/name], [name]Viola[/name], [name]Vivien[/name], [name]Stella[/name], [name]Miriam[/name], [name]Iris[/name], [name]Tabitha[/name], [name]Vanessa[/name]
I love it. I think it fits really well with a name like [name]Avery[/name], something distinctive but not unheard of. I like all of ottilie’s suggestions.
It’s on my own list, and I just prefer it in every way to [name]Jasper[/name].
I just love [name]Caspar[/name], but my time on Nameberry may be spoiling it for me. I’m starting to think of it as a yupster name, though it’s not in common use. Siblings:

Years ago, I met a little boy named [name]Caspar[/name], and I was shocked. I thought the parents purposely named him after the ghost. I thought that was so strange and I felt really bad for the little boy. I have learned since then that it is an actual name with history and substance, and I no longer think it is strange. My problem with the name [name]Caspar[/name], is that there are a lot of ignorant people out there that might think the same thing I did back then. If you use the name, expect to explain to a lot of people that your son was not named after the ghost and that it is a real name. On the bright side, the more the name gets used it will start to pull away from the association with the ghost.
