We are really loving the name Caspera (cass-pear-uh) and it is one of few we agree on (the others being [name]Raina[/name], [name]Silvana[/name]/[name]Sylvana[/name], and [name]Fiorenza[/name]) but Caspera doesn’t get the greatest responses. So far I’ve only gotten votes on polls and lists, so I’ve never really asked why people like it or don’t like it.
We’re thinking either Caspera [name]Sapphire[/name], Caspera [name]Galatea[/name], or Caspera [name]Persephone[/name].
Soooo…why do you like or dislike Caspera? Is there anything really bad about it that I’m missing? Other than the [name]Casper[/name] the Friendly Ghost reference? And if you met a little girl named Caspera would you be okay with it or cringe?
i really like Caspera. ([name]Casper[/name] is one of my favorite boy names.) i think it sounds sweet and sassy. the only thing i dont really like is in the pronunciation, where it sounds like spear. but that wouldnt stop me at all from loving it on a little girl. with the middle names youve listed, i like Caspera [name]Persephone[/name] the best.
I’ve never heard it before and had a negative reaction when I saw it. Can’t say why though. For one thing, it looked like an invention, and I have to be won over to inventions. 'Course it might not be an invention, just new to me.
Then I like the [name]Jasper[/name] family of names – for boys. I like that [name]Casper[/name]/[name]Jasper[/name] are soft sounding yet definitely masculine. I think I fear that if people start in with Caspera, that whole family of names will be lost to the boys. That does sound paranoid, now I spell it out.
In short, I’m a convert – yet. That doesn’t mean I can’t be converted.
I like these types of names. Caspera has a lovely sound, but I dislike the way it looks on paper. That could just be me, though! Also, I like that a little Caspera could go by [name]Cassie[/name], or perhaps [name]Cara[/name], if she decided she wanted a less uncommon name. I think [name]Galatea[/name] is the best of your middle name choices.
I think the name is pretty, although the first time I read it several years back I thought it was [name]Cass[/name]-peer-ah. I much prefer [name]Cass[/name]-pear-uh.
The nn [name]Cassie[/name] makes is very accessible too.
Out of your middle name choices, Caspera [name]Persephone[/name] has the best flow [name]IMO[/name], but I’d actually like to see a slightly less unusual mn than the ones you have listed with Caspera.
When I first saw it (and I wish I could remember where) I didn’t make the connection to [name]Casper[/name], much less [name]Jasper[/name]. I thought it might have been a stand alone name, unrelated to any male form. I wish I could find more info on it, or even a history of use, but the name is very elusive, even more so than Caspara. It doesn’t even make it onto most sites. But that is one of the reasons why I love it so much - because it seems like no one has this name. I kind of want my baby to be the only one in the world with the name I choose. Unless its a boy, that’s a different story. [name]Evander[/name] is almost set in stone for us.
I am afraid some people will say “casper-uh” when they see it. Like the boys name with an “a” added on.
We were probably going to go with [name]Cass[/name] for a nn. I’m sure I’ll only call her by her full name, my husband will only call her by her nickname, and other people will come up with their own. I get called [name]Nina[/name], [name]Cris[/name], and [name]Cristine[/name].
As for the three middle name choices I listed - [name]Persephone[/name], [name]Galatea[/name] and [name]Sapphire[/name], I really have no clue. We were hoping to plan the pregnancy so she (he?) is born mid-[name]September[/name] to late [name]October[/name], which might give her a sapphire birthstone. So I could get rid of [name]Sapphire[/name] as a mn option if that’s her stone. [name]Galatea[/name], in my opinion, goes well with both Caspera and our last name, [name]Janusz[/name]. As for [name]Persephone[/name], I like the meaning and the fact that it is Greek, because we are agnostic and I would not like to have a very noticeable religious name. But I’m definitely open to new mn suggestions. Other mn options include [name]Mariane[/name] (spelled this way because that’s how my middle name is spelled) after my grandmother, and [name]Rosemary[/name], after my mother and grandmother. Oh, and [name]Lauren[/name]/Laureline, and possibly [name]Seraphina[/name].
Some other ones I thought of are Caspera [name]Daphne[/name], Caspera [name]Isabel[/name], Caspera [name]Genevieve[/name], Caspera [name]Eve[/name], Caspera [name]Gwendolen[/name], Caspera [name]Emmanuelle[/name] (too Christmasy?) and Caspera [name]Penelope[/name]
Does a good middle make the first name any better?
