What do you think of Caspian for a girl? It’s the name of the largest sea in the world, and has a nature meaning so it feels unisex to us. Our ancestry is also from the countries around this sea with many memories often told.
I don’t like it all. But that’s for me personally. I can see that you have a personal connection to it, and I think that it could work for you.
It might be annoying to always be assumed to be a boy but otherwise it works.
I don’t think it works tbh.
I think it works, it’s not like Caspian is a super popular boy name outside of NB. It may be rising but most people won’t know a bunch of little boys named Caspian.
Honestly, I love your personal connection behind this name. [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] nn [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] would be adorable.
As for gender-confusion, I know a girl named [name_m]Harrison[/name_m], the 112th most popular boy name in the US. Oftentimes, she would get a “wait, you’re a girl” from subs, but no one questioned it. And really, [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] isn’t as popular as [name_m]Harrison[/name_m], so I think you can name your daughter [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]. It’s a lovely name, and I think you should go for it.
I love when names that are traditionally used for boys are used for girls. Like some of my favorite names I would consider using for a future daughter would be [name_u]Luca[/name_u], [name_u]James[/name_u], and [name_u]Jasper[/name_u].
I think [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] is such a beautiful name, and it would be adorable and unique.
I think it works. She might be assumed to be a boy on occasion, especially as I can see [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] rising quite rapidly up the charts in the coming years, but if that wouldn’t bother you then go for it! Sounds like it would be a nice connection to your heritage.
I’m not a fan of boys’ names on girls, but I guess it works, although not too well.
I think it could work. I kind of like it
I think it works, but there are so few good 3+ syllable names for boys I would hate to see another “go to the girls” haha.
I originally though that it didn’t work, but now I’ve changed my mind— I think that she can choose to do by [name_u]Cass[/name_u] if she likes, and if you love it and it is meaningful to you, go for it! The nns really save it on this one.
I don’t love it for a girl; the only major association is masculine (Prince Caspian) and therefore, I think it would be quite difficult to wear. However, I think Caspianne or Caspienne could work the same way [name_f]Eliette[/name_f] / Eliotte works for girls, would keep the pronunciation but, at the same time, makes the name obviously feminine.
Although it’ll be assumed she’s a boy initially and I prefer it on a boy I do think it works, especially because of the intuitive nickname Cas. It kind of reminds me of August - more commonly used on boys but usable for girls too. I don’t find Caspian quite as natural for a girl as August, I think because of the ‘n’ ending, but I still think it could work.
Due to the [name_m]Prince[/name_m] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] association I think the name is all boy honestly… I do think [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] would be a good alternative tho.
I absolutely love [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] for a girl. I think it’s sweet, strong, and sophisticated.
Gosh feels so very handsome and masculine to me. Sorry.
But then my personal preference is I don’t really like unisex names all that much.
Nope…I like the name a lot but it’s definitely a male name, it sounds male and it would not work for a girl in my opinion.
I suggest:
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Marina[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] or [name_u]Alix[/name_u]
As far as I know all three names mean “of the sea”.
[name_f]Aquamarine[/name_f] if it’s of your taste
More distant connection with the sea:
Azzurra(it’s italian) or [name_u]Azure[/name_u] ( a shade of the blue color of the sea)
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f], again a shade of blue
So cute for a little girl! You could use [name_f]Cassa[/name_f] as a nickname too.
I like it. It isn’t a boy’s name, it’s a place, like someone mentioned, so I don’t see an issue. It is unisex and it has feminine nicknames if she were to prefer (Cassy is adorable).
