[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone! Sorry in advance for the long post, I hope this isn’t too much of an ask.
I was about to post my own thread in the ‘what would you name x children based on my style’ bandwagon (in general name discussion) with names I would realistically use, when I realised there are next to no boy names I actually want to use. I have a long list of names I love that most would consider unique/“out there”/unusable (these make up my UC) - for reference, my top 3 boy names at the moment is [name_m]Sir[/name_m], Žygimantas, and [name_u]Thyme[/name_u]. I can’t see myself using any of these on actual children though. I’ve begun curating a list of names my partner & I both like, just for fun, as neither of us plan on having kids for a few years, but the boys section is dismal.
I have roughly 6 boy names I would actually use. I don’t plan on having 6 sons, but it would be nice to have some more options, as I tend to grow out of boys names I previously loved very quickly. Here are some short lists to get a feel of my overall style.
Current realistic favourites:
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] - my longest favourite/all time favourite, will 100% be using
[name_u]Sasha[/name_u] - honestly have been falling out of love with this as of late
[name_m]Wulfric[/name_m] / [name_m]Wulf[/name_m]
[name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] / [name_m]Wolfe[/name_m]
[name_m]Ford[/name_m] & [name_u]Noel[/name_u] - honours/middle names
Currently considering:
[name_m]Rafferty[/name_m]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_m]Knox[/name_m]
[name_u]Cove[/name_u]
[name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] - too wordy/too much?
[name_m]Florent[/name_m] - no easy nicknames.
[name_u]Atlas[/name_u] - becoming too common?
[name_u]Lincoln[/name_u] - becoming too common?
[name_m]Godfrey[/name_m] - love it but my partner thinks it’s too much.
Criteria: my style is pretty eclectic, so feel free to suggest anything you think might fit my vibe, even if it doesn’t match the criteria
Nothing too common: ideally outside of top 500
Ideally, easily lend themselves to nicknames, e.g. [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] “Cas”, [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] “Sash”, [name_m]Wulfric[/name_m] “Wulf”, etc. Nothing too stretchy.
I like a happy medium between vintage and modern, i.e. I like both [name_m]Albert[/name_m] and [name_u]Kingston[/name_u], but both are not right for opposite reasons, if that makes any sense. I feel like [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], [name_m]Wolfe[/name_m], [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], and [name_m]Ford[/name_m] fit this criteria well - established/old roots with a modern vibe.
[name_f]Virtue[/name_f] names & word names that aren’t too “out there”/can be used as first names are highly encouraged! I love [name_u]Noble[/name_u], but it’s too much as a first name for me.
Based on this lengthy explanation, what would you add to my realistic list? [name_u]Or[/name_u], what would you name brothers to [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], [name_u]Sasha[/name_u], and Wolfe/Wulf?
Well my very first thought was [name_m]Viggo[/name_m] until I saw him on your previous list I’m loving your lists though I’ve got a few of these on my mine as well
