Cassia or Daria?

Okay so what we’re looking at here is a sister for [name]Louisa[/name] ([name]Lulu[/name]), and things have been narrowed down to [name]Cassia[/name] and [name]Daria[/name].
I love [name]Cassia[/name] for it’s cinnamon-y connection, nicknames [name]Cassie[/name] and [name]Cass[/name], and I think it’s a really pretty, under-the-radar but not outlandish name.
I love [name]Daria[/name] because it’s a combination of strong and feminine, it’s sort of Eastern-tinted, and its connection to the sardonic character of the same name. Also, like [name]Cassia[/name], it’s rare but not unheard of. For nicknames, we’ve come up with [name]Dee[/name] and [name]Dia[/name].
We’re having so much trouble deciding because we love both, and can easily see either one as our daughter, and as [name]Louisa[/name]'s sister.

We think the middle name will be [name]Geneva[/name], but it’s not set in stone.
Last name is Wrighton.

And yes, I know that these names make 3/3/2 combinations, syllable-wise, and oh-dear-god!-how-is-she-forsaking-the-golden-1-2-3?! Well, I guess the truth is that I don’t really care about the syllable combinations; I just think the names sound pretty. (I mean, we nameberries do quite like to coo over Telegraph name announcements with zero attention payed to flow…)

Okay, so this is getting long, so–thanks in advance for your help!

I have a strong preference for [name]Cassia[/name] over [name]Daria[/name], partly because I adore the nickname [name]Cass[/name]. Also, [name]Daria[/name] seems a bit harsh to me next to [name]Louisa[/name].

I know you’ve said you don’t really care about the flow, but what about [name]Cassia[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] instead of [name]Cassia[/name] [name]Geneva[/name]? It has many of the same sounds in it, and I really think it sounds better together.

I love [name]Cassia[/name] so much. SO much! It’s on my list of perfect names  One of the things I love about it is that it doesn’t have any associations. There are no Cassias for her to be compared to, she’s the only one. [name]Daria[/name] on the other hand is strongly tied to the cartoon character. I know that show was on years ago, but it was really popular and I heard they’re bringing it back again. It’s not a bad association, it’s just that (for me at least) it’s really strong and I would prefer a name without something like that. Plus, I just think [name]Cassia[/name] is prettier and sweeter. [name]Lulu[/name] and [name]Cassie[/name] are sooo cute together!!!

I love [name]Cassia[/name] (though this is one of the rare instances that I prefer the K ([name]Kassia[/name]) over the C) and love the nicknames [name]Cassie[/name] and [name]Cass[/name]. My cousin’s name is [name]Daria[/name], though hers is pronounced DAH-ree-uh, not DAR-ee-uh. She uses the nickname Dar, and I’ve never met anyone else with her name. I think [name]Cassia[/name] pairs better with [name]Louisa[/name]. Such a pretty sibset.

[name]Alexis[/name]

I can’t really decide - they’re both so nice.

I work with a [name]Daria[/name] who likes her name well enough but was annoyed when the show came out. I mean, every name’s got something. It was years ago. Yes, [name]Cassia[/name] doesn’t really have an association, but that means as soon as anyone with the name gets famous, it’ll be associated, so it’s not really any freer than [name]Daria[/name] in some ways. Plus [name]Cass[/name] and [name]Cassie[/name] are pretty familiar from [name]Cassandra[/name]. That’s not a complaint about the name, just saying it’s not quite free. Also I think a little of [name]Cassius[/name] [name]Clay[/name]!

Anyway they’re both good with [name]Louisa[/name]…somehow I like [name]Cassia[/name] a little more with it fwiw.

All best!

I really, really like [name]Daria[/name] (it’s on my love but cannot use list, nn [name]Darcy[/name]), but I don’t like it with [name]Louisa[/name]. The styles don’t quite work together, certainly not as well as [name]Louisa[/name] and [name]Cassia[/name]. [name]Cassie[/name] is a darling nn, too! [name]Cassia[/name], nn [name]Cassie[/name], gets my vote!

I really like [name]Daria[/name] better than [name]Cassia[/name]. But with [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Cassia[/name] does go better. [name]Cassia[/name]'s softer and more lady-like, just like [name]Louisa[/name]. [name]Daria[/name]'s a harsher sound. I’m not a huge fan of [name]Cassie[/name] and I much prefer [name]Cass[/name] on a boy, but those work better with [name]Louisa[/name]/[name]Lulu[/name] better too.

[name]Daria[/name] seems a little harsher to me despite the ia ending. I really like [name]Cassia[/name] and it makes a great pair with [name]Louisa[/name]. I think [name]Cassia[/name] [name]Geneva[/name] W is beautiful, even with the matching a endings.

The nicknames [name]Cass[/name] and [name]Cassie[/name] swing it for me. I really like those so would go with [name]Cassia[/name].

Hey Everybody–thanks so much for your input! I definitely see what a lot of people are saying about [name]Cassia[/name] being softer than [name]Daria[/name], which is a little bit harder.
I suppose even though I adore both names that [name]Lulu[/name] and [name]Cassie[/name] and just making more sense to me.
Thanks again for your help.
