Cassian nn Ian - Does it work?

[name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce [name_m]Cassian[/name_m]?

Does [name_m]Ian[/name_m] work as a nn for it? If not, what other nicknames can you think of?

Thank you!

I think [name_m]Cassian[/name_m] nn [name_m]Ian[/name_m] works just fine! I say it like [name_u]CASS[/name_u]-ee-an, although sometimes I feel like it should be [name_m]CASH[/name_m]-ahn, since I say [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] and [name_m]Cassius[/name_m] as [name_m]CASH[/name_m]-ah and [name_m]CASH[/name_m]-us. I think you could also get [name_m]Cian[/name_m] or [name_m]Cas[/name_m] from [name_m]Cassian[/name_m].

[name_f]Sian[/name_f]/[name_m]Cian[/name_m] could be an alternative. Or CJ if you used a J middle name. [name_m]Cassian[/name_m] is great, and [name_m]Ian[/name_m] works fine as a short form. I say it [name_u]Cass[/name_u]-ee-en anyhow so it makes perfect sense.

I like both pronunciations but tend to say the original way cash-en. [name_m]Ian[/name_m] works better if you pronounce it cas-see-en. I don’t really think it’s needs a nickname, esp. if you use the two syllable pronunciation. I do like idea of [name_m]Cian[/name_m]!

I pronounce it cass-ee-in, so I think [name_m]Ian[/name_m] works perfectly.

You could use [name_m]Ian[/name_m], but I think it’d be a shame to use a great name like [name_m]Cassian[/name_m] just to get [name_m]Ian[/name_m].

I pronounce it [name_u]Cass[/name_u]-ee-uhn so [name_m]Ian[/name_m] works, but I don’t know why anybody would nn a lovely name like [name_m]Cassian[/name_m] with [name_m]Ian[/name_m], which, in my opinion, is pretty unattractive and boring.

If you want a nickname, I’d go with [name_m]Cas[/name_m]. [name_m]Cash[/name_m] could also work.

Completely agree with this, [name_m]Cassian[/name_m] is such an interesting name that that it needs an equally interesting / fun nickname, which [name_m]Cas[/name_m] or [name_m]Cash[/name_m] would fulfil much better than the boring old man [name_m]Ian[/name_m].

[name_m]Ian[/name_m] works as a nickname, but not sure I would use [name_m]Ian[/name_m] as a short form of another name. If I liked it enough to use it, then I would use it on its own.

I pronounce it cas-ee-an as well and that’s the only pronunciation I like. I do think with that pronunciation [name_m]Ian[/name_m] would be a logical nickname, although most people do seem to try to nickname from the front so you might have a lot of people attempt to use [name_m]Cas[/name_m] first.
