Cassie or Cassandra

Hello, baby girl due in [name_u]December[/name_u] and i have had the most difficult time with choosing a name, I feel like I don’t want to settle on anything just yet. I love the name [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] but my husband would prefer the full name [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]. I feel like if we chose [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] she would just get called [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] anyways. Plus [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] paired with our last name would be such a long name (our last name is 8 letters). Her middle name will be [name_u]Louise[/name_u]. Any opinions on if [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] would be good together or if the full name would be better to go with? Thank you!

I prefer a longer name for [name_f]Cassie[/name_f]. I quite like [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] but it does seem rather heavy, and perhaps a little dated.

How about [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u]?

I prefer [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] to [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f], but would prefer [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] overall. [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] is cute and perfectly usable on it’s own

I don’t care for [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] needs a full name

Here are my thoughts: a) [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] flows better, b) I do think it’s okay for her to have a full name but be called by the nn 99-100% of the time, and c) I understand your husband wanting her to have a formal name.

So I think that [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] called “[name_f]Cassie[/name_f]” is the best option here. I know two Cassandras that go by [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] 100% of the time, and I think it works fine. It is nice to have that formal name to fall back on, and if you’re going to call her [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] either way, I’d just let your husband have [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]. It doesn’t seem like it will make too much of a difference except having that backup option. Besides, I really think [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] is elegant!

I love the name [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] on it’s own! In doctor’s offices and places like that, she’ll probably be frequently asked, “Is that your full name?” (because that’s exactly what I do, when patients give me their name and it’s a typical nickname… but when they say ‘yes’ I always follow up with ‘that’s a lovely name’ or something else nice!) But that’s not a bad thing! [name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted to give you a heads up!

I prefer [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] as a nickname so if [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] isn’t your style, there’s also [name_f]Cassia[/name_f], [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] and [name_f]Cassiopeia[/name_f].

I prefer a longer name for [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] and [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] is an amazing idea!
Perhaps, [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] nn [name_f]Cassie[/name_f]?

Cassandra NN [name_f]Cassie[/name_f].

I second this!

I pretty much always prefer the shorter, more ‘nickname-y’ names over longer, formal ones, so I personally prefer [name_f]Cassie[/name_f].
I do understand the reasoning behind choosing a longer, more formal name, and [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] is cute too.
I think [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] flows just a tad better.

I prefer [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] than just [name_f]Cassie[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] [name_u]Louise[/name_u] sounds better.

But, I think [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] is better than [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f]. [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] [name_u]Louise[/name_u]. And I know a [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] who goes by [name_f]Cassie[/name_f].

Full name for sure then she has the option of a shorter NN plus [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] is more solid.

Cassandra nn [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] feels like the best of both worlds
