Cassiopée

Cassiopée is a new contender on our list for our baby girl, where [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] would be the nickname. [name_m]French[/name_m] is the main language spoken here in town, though my whole family is American and lives in the US.

  • What are your opinions on this name?

  • [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it would fit well with brother and sister’s names?

  • I think [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] helps in assimilating the name more in English, what do you guys think?

  • What would you expect the child/parents to be like based on this name?

I like Cassiopée, it’s a pretty name. I think it would fit perfectly with her sibling’s names should you choose to use it. The nickname [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] would be helpful in assimilating the name into English but I actually think it’s a simple enough name that once introduced it shouldn’t be a problem.

I have no opinion on what the child or parents would be like based on the name.

Yes, yes yes!

[name_f]Cassiopeia[/name_f] is on our extended list (not if we use [name_f]Chrysanthemum[/name_f] obvs), and I love it. Cassiopée would be the name we would use raising our multilingual children, and it is definitely beautiful. I think it does transfer reasonably well between [name_m]French[/name_m] and English, and [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] does keep it entirely approachable here.

Since [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] is on the docket for a future son for us, I have to say wholeheartedly that Floralie and [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] definitely go well with Cassiopée. It’s perfect that Floralie and Cassiopée have the botanical ties. Cassiopée and [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] share the Classics/antiquity association, and even the similarity of sharing some not so pleasant qualities (namely vanity and wrath, respectively) at that. They are such beautiful names with beautiful sounds that I personally believe they overcome any shortcomings or misgivings about meaning and tragic mythology, though.

I love [name_u]Cam[/name_u]élia as well for you, but Cassiopée is just even more special and I would really encourage you to use it if it speaks to you.
