I mentioned [name]Catalina[/name] on another board but thought I would ask for opinions over here as well, my Grandmother is from the Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia y [name]Santa[/name] [name]Catalina[/name]. I was thinking [name]Catalina[/name] would be a nice way to honor her and am considering putting it on my list.
What are the general thoughts on the name and what goes well with the name? I was unaware there is a [name]Catalina[/name] salad dressing but my husband says this is no big deal? What do you think?
I like it with [name]Josephine[/name], [name]Josephine[/name] [name]Catalina[/name] sounds nice to me which is a bonus but I can’t think of any combos but I would love some recommendations.
It’s a beautiful name. I think people sometimes shy away from it due to the island visible from Los [name]Angeles[/name]-- but really, what’s so bad about that? I think it’s a fantastic, meaningful way to honor your grandmother.
I know a [name]Catalina[/name]. She just goes by [name]Catalina[/name] (no nickname) to me and other friends, but I met her mom once and her mom called her [name]Kitty[/name]. I think [name]Catalina[/name] is a beautiful name and I had NO idea there was a salad dressing with this name, and it really doesn’t matter that there is.
Very pretty! My neighbor is named [name]Catalina[/name] so I think of her! Pretty and youthful in her late 30s, dark hair, caramel skintone, British accent, works in a creative field.
I think [name]Catalina[/name] is a beautiful name. I wouldn’t think of the dressing (which, coincidentally, I just had on my salad an hour ago) until someone mentioned it… and honestly, it wouldn’t phase me. I say use it!
NB says the definition of [name]Catalina[/name] is pure so going by that I came up with some combos based on meaning and not my style, any opinions on these or suggestions?

[name]Catalina[/name] Aspasia (means welcome but I really like it!)
[name]Catalina[/name] [name]Valentine[/name] (either prn of [name]Valentine[/name] works for me)
[name]Catalina[/name] [name]Adele[/name] - My grandmas name was [name]Una[/name] [name]Adella[/name] (long story but not sure if its [name]Adella[/name] or [name]Adele[/name]) but she went by [name]Della[/name] is [name]Della[/name] [name]Catalina[/name] or [name]Catalina[/name] [name]Adele[/name] OK? I don’t care for [name]Una[/name] so I wouldn’t use it.
I’ve been thinking about using [name]Anne[/name] in something because it’s part of my Mother and my [name]MIL[/name]'s name (who I love). I don’t want to use [name]Diane[/name] because that is my Mothers mn and I think it leaves my [name]MIL[/name] out. I really like [name]Anne[/name]-[name]Sophie[/name], [name]Catalina[/name] [name]Anne[/name]-[name]Sophie[/name] sounds great to me but I’m trying to look for names that aren’t just French. Any good [name]Anne[/name] names that are stunning with [name]Catalina[/name]?
@taz I really like [name]Catalina[/name] [name]Simone[/name], [name]Violet[/name] [name]Catalina[/name], [name]Catalina[/name] [name]Annette[/name] (something to consder!), [name]Catalina[/name] [name]Augustine[/name] (Loving this!) Thanks so much.
[name]DO[/name] IT! I instantly think of the island but as blade said, that’s not a bad association - it’s a beautiful place and looks so mystical standing out in the [name]Pacific[/name].
[name]Catalina[/name] is pretty. I do think of the island and not the salad dressing, but that shouldn’t stop you from using the name. It is funny because my DH and I went to [name]Catalina[/name] island for our honeymoon, so it has a special significance to me as well. I think it is a pretty choice.
This might sound stupid but I don’t know anything about the [name]Santa[/name] [name]Catalina[/name] island in the [name]Pacific[/name], the one I’m talking about is in the Caribbean. I have no problem whatsoever if people think of the one in the [name]Pacific[/name] instead and wouldn’t go around correcting if I were to ever use the name but I want to know is there anything controversial about this island? It’s just a vacation destination right?
Also, the island she was born on is Providencia but it’s an Archipelago so I think that works right? She wasn’t foreign to the island or anything and she talked a lot about all of them. Thanks so much for all the help so far
Thanks for this, I was wondering about mental images of a [name]Catalina[/name] and I pictured a pale blonde for some reason but I’m mixed race, my skin is pretty olive and I get mistaken for Hispanic or Italian a lot so I was wondering what a real life [name]Catalina[/name] looks like.
I think our [name]Catalina[/name] is part [name]Indian[/name] & part white. She could easily be thought of as Latin looking. I think the name suits a girl with her features for sure.
Also- I had never heard of the salad dressing before this thread if that helps!
Living in [name]CA[/name], I have been to my namesake- [name]Santa[/name] [name]Catalina[/name] Island. It really is a beautiful place. That’s where my name came from - [name]Santa[/name] [name]Catalina[/name].
I’m a [name]Catalina[/name]. I have blonde hair and gray eyes. My hair isn’t white-blonde, it’s more of a dirty blonde. I don’t think that’s exactly what people picture when they think of a [name]Catalina[/name].
[name]Love[/name]! [name]Catalina[/name] is beautiful, it has always been one of my favorite names. My first association is [name]Catalina[/name] the Infanta (princess) of Spain that later became [name]Katherine[/name] of [name]Aragon[/name] when she married [name]King[/name] [name]Henry[/name] VIII. But probably no one else has this association.
I picture a girl with olive skin and long, flowing, dark hair.
