What are some different ways to get to [name]Kate[/name]/[name]Cate[/name] other than [name]Catherine[/name]?
What about [name]Kathleen[/name] or [name]Caitlyn[/name]/[name]Catelyn[/name]?
Anything less mainstream and even maybe a stretch?
Some of these are a HUGE stretch, but:
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Catrine[/name]
[name]Catrina[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Collette[/name]
[name]Victoria[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Callista[/name]
[name]Calliope[/name]
[name]Patience[/name]
[name]Christina[/name]
Basically, if it has a C, T, and either A or E in it, I think it could work. Some people are going to tell you that it doesn’t, but sometimes I call my [name]Grace[/name] [name]Patricia[/name], Cece, so do whatever you feel is best!
Thanks sillysheila, exactly what I was looking for! I love the idea of [name]Calliope[/name] and [name]Calista[/name]!
I absolutely adore [name]Cate[/name]! My favorite way to get it is [name]Ekaterina[/name], followed by [name]Katerina[/name], but other than that, I’m a bit stumped. What about something like [name]Camille[/name] [name]Tess[/name]/[name]Camilla[/name] [name]Tess[/name]? With the “[name]Ca[/name]” part from [name]Camille[/name]/a and the “te” from [name]Tess[/name]?
I love just [name]Kate[/name]! It looks so chic and sweet to me If I had to pick another way to get to it I would pick [name]Katia[/name], that has always been a favorite of mine that just never seems to make my list.
[name]Catelyn[/name]/[name]Catelin[/name] is what comes to mind… but in my opinion if someone wants a [name]Cate[/name] they are best sticking to the timeless and classic [name]Catherine[/name].
I love [name]Catelynn[/name]. I knew a little [name]Cate[/name] and she was just the cutest little thing. Her name fit her so well.
What about [name]Catriona[/name]? It’s the Irish/Scottish form of [name]Catherine[/name].
What about [name]Catalina[/name]? It’s the Spanish version of [name]Catherine[/name]
I guess I just love [name]Cate[/name] as a fn as I’m not loving the long versions. Thanks though!
Might I suggest [name]Evangeline[/name] [name]Cate[/name]? I think it pairs well with [name]Leopold[/name] [name]Jack[/name]. And [name]Leo[/name] and [name]Evie[/name] are so adorable together!
Sillysheila- it’s funny you say that as [name]Evangeline[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] are our top choices as of today. Her mn will be her given name unless it has a negative meaning or was given by orphanage staff and not her bio family.
Go for it then! I remember in the past generation when parents were naming their boys [name]Jim[/name], not [name]James[/name]. If you love it, do it. Be aware people will try to spell it [name]Kate[/name] though… but I like the [name]Cate[/name] much better just because [name]Kate[/name] has become way too common in my opinion. [name]Cate[/name] is much more fresh, but not weird.
