[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]. Not crazy about [name_f]Viola[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] would be gorgeous!
I had a Great Grandmother [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f] and always thought it sounded kinda regal. [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f] is very pretty
I may be missing something here, but why is Switzerland an option? Sorry for being daft! I love the combination (although it slightly gets to me that [name_f]Viola[/name_f] is not pronounced the way it’s supposed to be - sorry!) Good luck.
Aargh, I’m sorry to point this out, but the legitimate Italian pronounciation would be Vee-[name_m]OLE[/name_m]-ah.
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f] sounds kinda pretty and regal, but the final A seems a bit out of place. [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is nicer imo.
Also, I voted Switzerland because it’s the nicest poll option ever.
(Switzerland is famous because of it’s neutrality - it didn’t participate in WW1 and 2. So Switzerland = Neutral)
@boyandgirl and serenityg: Thanks for the feedback!
@ciottolo: See cloverish’s explanation of Switzerland.
@cloverish: Thanks for the info, but from what I’ve read, vye-[name_m]OLE[/name_m]-uh is a legitimate pronunciation of the English name.
Like I said my Great -Great Grandmother was [name_f]Anna[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f] and it was pronounced Vye-O-La not Vee-o-la she was born about 1850 US
So I like [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] Vy-OH-la (I know a town pronounced this way). But I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f] (said VY-oh-la) like the flower or Shakespearean heroine.
And then there’s [name_f]Viola[/name_f] said like the musical instrument, Vee-oh-la.
In theory it’s gorgeous, but something about [name_f]Viola[/name_f] just doesn’t do it for me. I like it, but I don’t love it.
Bump! I’d love some more votes
Vote for [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] I prefer Vee- pronunciation but Vy- is nice too.
I voted Like it, because it flows well and I think [name_f]Viola[/name_f] is very pretty. The only reason I didn’t vote [name_f]Love[/name_f] it is because I personally despise [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]. However, it is a good, strong, pretty name for normal people who aren’t so averse to [name_f]Catherine[/name_f].
I just commented to say I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] the Switzerland option!
[name_f]Love[/name_f]… and yes I understood it immediately and I think it is a fun way to say neither here nor there
(btw I voted like it because it is a really beautiful combo… [name_f]Love[/name_f] it I reserve for a name I would consider using myself)
Thanks, giinkies!
Agreed. [name_f]Viola[/name_f]'s gorgeous, and I want to like it, especially since I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] the Shakespearean tie, but it just sort of falls short for me. It’s not terribly exciting. It sort of feels out-of-place. But I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]. I didn’t vote, because I didn’t know how to vote. I’m just torn all around. But I love [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]!
ETA: When I finally figured out what Switzerland meant, I was so so proud of myself, hahaha! What an awesome, dorky poll option!
My great-grandmother’s name was [name_f]Viola[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], so I’m irrationally fond of [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f].
Wait a sec, is this my cousin [name_f]Leah[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] S. posting this thread?!
@mill1020: Haha, I’m pretty sure I’m not your cousin. I bet there are quite a few [name_f]Leah[/name_f] [name_f]Maries[/name_f] my age running around.
I absolutely love it. Sounds very classic and refined. It’s a name for a lady.
I love it. It has a classic, regal sound to it that’s beautiful.
