Cato .... What do you think ?

What do you think of the name [name_m]Cato[/name_m] ?

What kind of a person would be ?

Thanks in advance :slight_smile:

I like [name_m]Cato[/name_m], the hard consonant in the middle followed by the lush -o ending is quite nice to hear. It makes me think of someone athletic, independent (and…) imagery is failing me.

Aside from thinking of the [name_u]Green[/name_u] Hornet, I love the name [name_m]Cato[/name_m] for it’s short, sharp and masculine feel; it also makes me think of [name_m]Plato[/name_m] ([name_m]Cato[/name_m] -[name_m]Plato[/name_m] :S )
Which makes sense considering the Latin [name_m]Cato[/name_m] means “smart” & “wise”.
I like it v.much…great name for a great man :slight_smile:

Sorry, I still think of the O.J. [name_m]Simpson[/name_m] trial.

It’s our top pick for a boy. I think it’s versatile, it can be defined by the wearer.
[name_u]Kato[/name_u] from the OJ [name_m]Simpson[/name_m] trial was spelled with a K. But besides that, I don’t live in the US, so it’s not a strong association for me.

I think of the Hunger Games character.

It makes me think of [name_m]Cato[/name_m] from the Hunger Games… “associated with power, strength, wealth, and brutality.”

[name_m]Even[/name_m] with the association to that book, I still really like the name. And the actor they chose in the movie is pretty cute. [name_m]Young[/name_m], blond and strong.

I know someone with this name so for me it is a bad association.

Thank all of you for replying :slight_smile:

@sunshine.kid : this exactly man I picture :slight_smile:
@aveline_bellefleur : I havent though about [name_m]Cato[/name_m] being similar to [name_m]Plato[/name_m]. I like that.
@boyandgirl : I haven’t thought about that association. It isnt too strong for me to be bother.
@milasmama : Well, I confess. I saw your signature and then I thought of that name :slight_smile: . I havent notice that it was spelled with [name_u]Kato[/name_u].
@mamabear : I dont think hunger games is a bad association. It makes the name more recognizable imo. And while I havent read or watch the movies that actor that play [name_m]Cato[/name_m] is very… Hot :wink:
@lovesloudies : You seem to agree with me about the hot actor :wink: I totally agree with you. The character was very strong and brave etc.

@giinkies : you reply while I reply :slight_smile: I understand you. If I meet someone who I don’t like I will immediately dislike his/her name.

I actually really love [name_m]Cato[/name_m], its unique but in a good way, like it sounds familiar

Seems like it’s a cool name, but here in the U.S. there is a women’s clothing shop called [name_m]Cato[/name_m]. They sell pretty cheap clothes and are almost always in strip malls, so unfortunately I can’t visualize the name on a man. http://www.catofashions.com/

Thank you :slight_smile:

@katie8765 : Thanks for your opinion . I feel the same way about [name_m]Cato[/name_m] :slight_smile:
@saracita00 : I didnt know about that . Thanks for telling me :slight_smile:

I love [name_m]Cato[/name_m] and would be pleased to meet the parents of a child named this. :smiley:

P.S. I am always excited when I see someone considering something “different” for a boy as I feel boys are more often stuck with “traditional” names. That being said, I think I’d love [name_m]Cato[/name_m] even if it was in the top 10.

I really like [name_m]Cato[/name_m]. I couldn’t get SO on board with it, but I’d love to meet a [name_m]Cato[/name_m] in real life.

Definitely reminds me of OJ [name_m]Simpson[/name_m]. Also reminds me of the character from the new USA show “[name_f]Monday[/name_f] Mornings” (His nickname is “Gato” but I always want to say “[name_m]Cato[/name_m] instead”).

Well OBVIOUSLY I love it since I named my son [name_m]Cato[/name_m]. It took me a while to get to it (he was unnamed for 2 weeks) but now it so obviously fits him to a T. I imagine the kind of person that my son is…cute, blond, strong and a little busy body! When my son gets older (he’s only 1 right now so I’m just guessing) I think he will still be very rough and tumble and hyper (and loud). The reason I chose it was because it has the historical association with [name_m]Cato[/name_m] the [name_m]Elder[/name_m], it means wise, it sounds like the name of a strong good looking [name_m]Roman[/name_m] gladiator and the character in the Hunger Games, while cruel, was very badass (exactly the image of [name_m]Cato[/name_m] for me)! :wink:

Thank all of you for your opinions :slight_smile:

@mandanyx : [name_m]Cato[/name_m] [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] [name_u]Jay[/name_u] is stunning :slight_smile:

Agree 100%. I would prefer it in the middle rather than the first however.

Thanks @fiammetta :slight_smile:
