Cato?

[name_u]Cato[/name_u] is one of our options for our son due in a month. One of my closest friends is also pregnant with a boy, and we were discussing names yesterday. She told me [name_u]Cato[/name_u] is ‘frankly awful’ and she cant believe we’d even consider it! :frowning:

My partner and I both think its lovely, but now I’m worried it might actually be a bad name for a child? What do you guys think?

Our other top options are [name_m]Xavier[/name_m], [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m].

Well, that was rude! What’s important is what the parents think of the name. It’s not awful at all.

Aw! I think it’s a great name. I actually considered it myself!

The only downside for me was that it is the name of a women’s clothing store, and even though that’s probably not an association many people would make, it bothered me!

I do love the name [name_u]Cato[/name_u]. Other similar names I like are [name_m]Nero[/name_m] and [name_m]Felix[/name_m]!

Everyone has such different tastes when it comes to names. My best friend thought my baby name was awful, but, now that he is born, thinks it fits him well! People will have lots of opinions until it’s final, then they will warm to whatever you choose.

[name_m]Rude[/name_m]. I think it’s a great name! I have [name_u]Cato[/name_u] [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] on my list. I also love the other 3 names on your shortlist, so we prob have similar styles. [name_m]Just[/name_m] chalk it up to different styles… she’ll probably use something you find boring that you can silently judge

[name_u]Cato[/name_u] is a fine name. I would really recommend not sharing your ideas with family and friends in the future.

To echo other posters; that was incredibly rude of your friend to say. It’s not a name I’d choose, but [name_u]Cato[/name_u]'s not awful by any means.

[name_u]Cato[/name_u] is a fine name and not awful at all! [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t worry about what she said.

[name_u]Cato[/name_u] is my mailman’s name and he is such a great person, so I can’t help but have positive feelings towards the name. All that matters is that you love it!
