CAUTION! Trendy name alert!

Hehe, I just know most of you guys are going to freak out about how trendy this name is (trendy=bad on nameberry lol), but I wanted honest feedback on how you think it would work as a name:
Soooo… what do you think about Avenley?

I like it- reminds of a television series I loved as a child!

As in [name]Anne[/name] of Avonlea?
Are you Canadian?
If you have some attachment to the books or the place, maybe. But spell it Avonlea if you must.

Nope never heard of Avonlea! Would you pronounce that with a long a or a short a? I’m wanting a short a sound, like avenue.

All I got is trendy and avenue.
While trendy definitely different though. So that’s a plus point.

Yes I’d pronounce Avonlea exactly the same as Avenley. A as in arrow, vonlea as in heavenly.

Spelling it Avonlea saves the name, but if I met a kid with this name whose parent hadn’t read the books I would be disgusted. If you’re not an [name]Ann/name fan, stick to Avenly.

Is it the same as Avonlea?

[name]Edit[/name]: I just saw your reply. It’s pronounced like this: Avonlea pronunciation: How to pronounce Avonlea in English

I don’t know about disgusted, but bothered for sure.
I can’t get on board with this name otherwise. Beyond trendy.

I really like Avonlea. Its airy, soft and delicate.

Avonlea would be 100X nicer imo.

I pronounce them differently Avonlea: [name]Ah[/name]-vuhn-lee Avenly: Ay-vehn-lee (ay as in pay) I think Avenly is pretty trendy, sorry! But Avonlea is lovely

I like Avenley, spelling and all. It has a very pretty sound to it. I don’t think you need to associate Avonlea (the show) with the name at all. Trendy? No, not at all…Avenley would stand on it’s own as having a beautiful sound.

Hate it… Too trendy… Sounds made up

Thanks everyone. I like it more knowing Avonlea is an “acceptable” name. I just still prefer the way Avenley looks I think… The" [name]Avon[/name]" part reminds me of the make up brand and I worry people will use a long a sound. I am worried though that it sounds too close to heavenly. Thanks for pointing that out!

I like Avenley, but I am not sure if I love the name because I can’t picture how it sounds.

I know a little Aveniel, she is named after her grandmother. It’s similar to Avenley?

I think most people are familiar enough with the story, either through the books or the PBS versions of the movie they do during telethons that they’d know Avonlea is pronounced [name]Ave[/name]-un-lee.

I would pronounce Avenley as Ayy-ven-lee, so with a long A sound for sure, like in [name]Avery[/name].

It looks incompletely to me, like someone forgot the first letter. I’d imagine she’d get a lot of “[name]Avery[/name]?” “[name]Heavenly[/name]?” comments, and no one would know how to spell the name. I’d also anticipate a lot of mispronunciations if you want a short A sound, but that doesn’t really change the name so that wouldn’t bother me too much, once people here her or you say the name, they’ll catch on, and having strangers pronounce it with a long A isn’t too drastically “off”.

Aside from those issues, the name is really NMS at all, but I don’t think it’s absolutely horrible.

I know a little Avonlea! Her mother is a huge [name]Anne[/name] of [name]Green[/name] Gables fan. It’s nms, but is a beautiful name. I think it’s as legitimate as any other place name or literature influenced name, especially if it has special meaning to the parents.
