Hi! I have my heart set on twin names Marcella and Catesby. They’re not that similar, but I think it works. My problem is that I love the nickname Cece for Marcella. The nickname came first, actually, and we’d probably call her that most of the time. Are Cece and Catesby to similar? I don’t want to drop either of them, as we’ve had our hearts set on Cece for three years and Catesby for nine months. We don’t have a planned nickname for Catesby.
I’d love to hear your opinions on weather you think the names are too similar or not. If anyone has nickname suggestions for Catesby I’d love to hear them. Thanks!
I think they’d be very similar if [name_f]Cece[/name_f] was the full name but for a nickname it’s just fine!
100% agree with @midwinter on this one. Both lovely names.
I think they’re a lovely set!
Nickname ideas for Catesby;
Cate
[name_f]Catie[/name_f]
[name_u]Kit[/name_u]
[name_f]Kitty[/name_f]
[name_f]Bebe[/name_f]
[name_f]Essie[/name_f]
[name_f]Tess[/name_f]
I think it sounds a little close, but not so close that it would get confusing whose name you’re saying. And, since her full name is [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] not [name_f]Cece[/name_f], I think it would really be okay. You always have [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] to fall back on. You could always nickname Catesby something, too, if you feel like it and [name_f]Cece[/name_f] are just too close.
I agree that it’d be too close if Acevedo were her full name, but since it’s just a nicknames it’s fine.
Nicknames can be whatever you want, but I don’t think [name_f]Cece[/name_f] comes from [name_f]Marcella[/name_f]. [name_f]Cece[/name_f] is adorable, but it isn’t phonetically related to [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] in any way. [name_f]My[/name_f] instinct would be to call them [name_f]Marci[/name_f] and [name_f]Kate[/name_f], but there are other options. I think the most intuitive way to get [name_f]Cece[/name_f] from Catesby and [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] is to take it from the first initial of Catesby, especially if her middle name starts with a C as well. [name_f]Cece[/name_f] and [name_f]Marci[/name_f] are a bit too close for my taste, so I’d call [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] [name_f]Ella[/name_f], which is super cute with sister [name_f]Cece[/name_f].
Potential middles:
[name_f]Camilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f]
[name_f]Clover[/name_f]
[name_f]Cybil[/name_f]
I don’t think they’re too close
I don’t think they’re too close at all.
You say you’ve been set on [name_f]Cece[/name_f] and Catesby for longer than [name_f]Marcella[/name_f], so I just thought I’d add that I actually think [name_f]Cece[/name_f] works well as a nickname for Catesby too.
I can’t tell from your post if you’re as in love with [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] as you are with Catesby, or if you’ve chosen it mainly as a good route to [name_f]Cece[/name_f], so I just thought I’d chime in with that.
Otherwise, I agree that [name_f]Cece[/name_f] and [name_f]Cate[/name_f] would be adorable together, and I like [name_f]Marcella[/name_f] a lot. It’s strong and pretty.
I also like [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] and Catesby, nicknamed [name_f]Cece[/name_f] and [name_f]Cate[/name_f], but those might feel too similar for you/not be your style.
