Cecelia, Cecilia, Cecily

Which of these do you like best: [name]Cecelia[/name], [name]Cecilia[/name], or [name]Cecily[/name]?

I have a friend I might one day like to honor in the mn slot. She spells it [name]Cecelia[/name], but I prefer the [name]Cecilia[/name] spelling (mostly because I don’t like it shortened to [name]Cece[/name]). [name]Cecily[/name] might make a nice tribute while not being exactly the same; I like the idea of tributes rather than directly copying a name.

Thoughts?

[name]Cecilia[/name] is my preferred spelling also. I like [name]Celia[/name] & [name]Cecily[/name] as well.

I prefer [name]Cecilia[/name] spelt this way as well. I also like [name]Celia[/name] but perhaps as a nickname for [name]Cecilia[/name]. These are options for my baby due in a couple of months. I also don’t like it shortened to [name]Cece[/name]!

For me, [name]Cecily[/name] is too close to [name]Sicily[/name] and I don’t like place names.

I too prefer the [name]Cecilia[/name] spelling, it just looks more classic to me.
I think [name]Cecily[/name] is a great choice - tribute, like you say, and then you won’t have questions about why you used the same name but changed the spelling.
[name]Celia[/name] would however also be a good choice.

[name]Cecelia[/name], [name]Cecilia[/name], or [name]Cecily[/name]? Hmmm…
My preferred spelling is [name]Cecelia[/name], but either way is nice. Out of the three I actually like [name]Cecily[/name] the best. It’s different and girly without trying to be. But any of the choices are nice!

I love cecily! It’s actually one of our top 3 names for our baby girl due in [name]October[/name]. I love that it’s elegant, feminine, but also has a nice literary and historical background to it. It’s an old but very uncommon name-I think it’s a gem!

[name]Cecily[/name] gets my vote.

I love [name]Cecily[/name]. I’ve been very interested in it recently as a result of new [name]Saturday[/name] [name]Night[/name] Live castmember/comedian [name]Cecily[/name] Strong.

I also like [name]Cecelia[/name]. I agree that [name]Cece[/name] is not my favorite, but I don’t like that the word cilia is in [name]Cecilia[/name].

[name]Cecily[/name] is my favorite, followed by the simple [name]Celia[/name]. Between [name]Cecelia[/name] and [name]Cecilia[/name], I prefer [name]Cecilia[/name].

I prefer [name]Cecily[/name].

I like [name]Cecily[/name] best.

I vote for [name]Cecilia[/name]-- all I can see when I read “[name]Cece[/name]” or “[name]Cecelia[/name]” is “feces,” (which I know is a stretch, but still. It makes -ece an unpleasant sequence of letters.) And [name]Cecily[/name] sounds like the name of someone obnoxious to me.

If you want to honor without copying, I second the suggestion of [name]Celia[/name]. Gorgeous name.

I adore [name]Cecily[/name]. I read about on one of these sites as a stylistic alternative to [name]Emily[/name] and have been in love with it every since. After that, [name]Cecilia[/name]. I agree that it’s a nicer spelling, and will hopefully avoid the [name]Cece[/name] nickname. [name]Celia[/name] is nice too.

I vote for [name]Cecily[/name].

I much prefer [name]Cecilia[/name].

I like [name]Cecily[/name].

Let’s just hope you don’t run into any problems with pronunciation. My mom’s name is Cecia (pronounced see-suh), but people have called her everything from See-sha to Suh-see-uh to Sess’-see-uh to [name]Cecelia[/name] and even [name]Kesha[/name]!

I think you still might get the nn [name]Cece[/name] with [name]Cecily[/name] or [name]Cecilia[/name] if they are used in the fn spot. You can certainly fight against it, but, if you really hate the nn, it is something to consider.
