Still big time struggling to find a name for [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]'s sister to be.
We are trying to narrow down to two options to take to the hospital. Thoughts on [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] (could do [name_f]Claire[/name_f] but we liked the tree meaning for [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] – Rowan tree facts and mythology | Trees for Life – and thought it could honor someone special) and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]? Our last name starts with an L and is two syllables. We like the nicknames of CiCi and [name_f]Bess[/name_f].
Other middle name possibilities: [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], [name_u]Vivian[/name_u], [name_f]Elyse[/name_f].
[name_f]Welcome[/name_f] your thoughts or your mixing and matching of our name options to tell is the best pairings (and your overall favs) or any further suggestions. For older sister [name_f]Eve[/name_f], we liked the simplicity and elegance of it and, while very classic, we thought it had a modern and spunky edge too. We felt it was cute but versatile for a kid and an adult, and any type of person. Her middle name, [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], was an honor name (J) and our 2nd choice first name. We loved [name_u]Josie[/name_u], but went with [name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Evie[/name_f].
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] gets my vote! I think the combination of girly [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] with a unisex word name like [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is dynamite. While [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is nice, it’s a bit of a mouthful and I’d be hesitant to use another E name in the likelihood that future kids would be left out (not sure if that’s a concern for you!) I also think [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is a more distinctive choice than [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], and therefore a better fit with [name_f]Eve[/name_f].
But if I were to pick one purely based on what fits with [name_f]Eve[/name_f], I’d choose [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f]—possibly [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] or [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f].
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] gets my vote, but I also love [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]! [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] would be my third choice.
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] are my favorites! [name_u]Unique[/name_u], but classy, and I love the feminine first names with the unisex middle name.
P.s.
Cute nicknames for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] that I love are [name_f]Lena[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and a cute spin on [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] that I also love is [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] <3
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]!
I prefer [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] as a full name though [name_f]Bess[/name_f] is much cuter than CiCi and could age better in my opinion
Thank you thank you! For the great opinions and thoughts. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Bess[/name_f] too and also am thinking that [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is the best sounding combo of the bunch and we like it because of the great song. Plus it’s [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]-like without being so popular and mainstream. Thought about adding [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] to the middle name possibilities. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]? Too frumpy and not enough spunk/punch?
What is a good middle for [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] ([name_f]Gwen[/name_f])? We are stumped there.
We could get to [name_f]Bess[/name_f] from [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] but we also think [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is a bit better than [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]. And may wear better over time and be more used in its full. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]? Not sure what works well with it.
My thoughts EXACTLY! I love [name_f]Bess[/name_f] so much and sadly no one else seems to. It matches [name_f]Eve[/name_f] very well, better than CiCi [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. I also love [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] but the nickname does very little for me and also seems to be becoming a “trendy” nickname that everyone on NB loves . . . not a bad thing per se, but it definitely turns me off. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is a beautiful combo, elegant, restrained, and the sort that’s unobtrusively growing on you all the time.
You could probably get [name_f]Bess[/name_f] from names with [name_f]Beth[/name_f] in, like [name_f]Annabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Elsbeth[/name_f], [name_f]Embeth[/name_f], [name_f]Bethany[/name_f], [name_f]Bethia[/name_f], [name_f]Bethesda[/name_f], possibly even [name_f]Odessa[/name_f] or [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] if you were willing to stretch it. Or maybe use a variation of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], like [name_f]Elisheba[/name_f], [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], [name_f]Isabel[/name_f], [name_f]Ishbel[/name_f], or [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f].
[name_u]Love[/name_u] nn [name_f]Gwen[/name_f], too, and fn [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f], though I’m not convinced that [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] is the best mn. My favourite nickname for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is [name_f]Noor[/name_f] (it’s an Arabic name meaning “light”, pronounced like nore) and [name_f]Elle[/name_f] is rather pretty, though I don’t like [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Tess[/name_f] is possibly my favourite combo on your list. I really, really like it. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] works fine [name_f]IMO[/name_f], and [name_f]Bea[/name_f]'s very pretty. As well as [name_f]Bess[/name_f], of course
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] are nice, I probably prefer [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. The popularity of [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] puts me off but it’s very lush. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you happen to like [name_f]Olivine[/name_f]?
Not keen on [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f], it seems a bit flat to me.
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] all the way! It’s so complementary to [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f].
They share initials.
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Eve[/name_f] are both Biblical.
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] are both literary heroines.
All the names are classic.
All the names have positive meanings.
Plus, I love [name_f]Bess[/name_f].
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is fine, but [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] means “blind” and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is unisex and not classically used for females. Seems just a little more trendy than [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f].
Absolutely [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]! [name_f]Bess[/name_f] is a great nickname and the full name has the same class and timelessness that [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] has. I really like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] too - it feels a bit edgier but still classic.
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Tess[/name_f] and [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] are all beautiful too and I prefer them to [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], which I agree feels more modern than your elder daughter’s name.
Have you considered [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]? I prefer [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] over the unisex ([name_u]Rowen[/name_u]) version of the name. I also prefer [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] spelled this way and the nickname, [name_f]Cece[/name_f].
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]
I really like [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]. I think it shares earthy and vintage qualities with [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f].
Next favorites would be…
[name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Maxine[/name_f]
[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] (like [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] but OJ initials not ideal)
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is getting my vote, too. I love Ceci/Cici in general, but [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and Ceci is even cuter! I also love [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] (although it seems more common than you other options–[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is popular, but [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] leaves her feeling fresh. I adore [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], but it is a rather traditional combo. Then again, traditional is nice, too. I guess I’m starting to think that way since SO many Berries value rare names, but I have no problem with it personally, and have considered [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]/[name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] myself.), [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Tess[/name_f] ([name_f]ADORE[/name_f] the nn [name_f]Lena[/name_f] for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Leni[/name_f] and [name_f]Noor[/name_f]/[name_f]Nora[/name_f] are also cute), and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] (I think [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f] are to die for!). It seems like, of these, you like [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] the best, so I’m voting for [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] first, but I love [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] as much as, if not more than, [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], myself.
You mentioned you picked the name [name_f]Eve[/name_f] because “we liked the simplicity and elegance of it and, while very classic, we thought it had a modern and spunky edge too. We felt it was cute but versatile…” I think [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] ([name_f]Gwen[/name_f]) fits that description perfectly.
You also mentioned that you used the middle name [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] as an honor name and that your idea of using [name_u]Rowen[/name_u] as a possible middle name would honor someone special. I love the idea of selecting the middle name to honor someone, even if it is using their first initial. Here are some ideas using names beginning with R:
Wow you guys are so great. What thoughtful, and so very helpful!, replies. They were all so great and fun to read, and made me feel much more positively about these pseudo finalists. I sometimes feel meh about all options, but you made me feel as though we have some great options on the list. Thank you for that. Maybe we can’t go wrong. But still happy to hear more thoughts if others want to comment!
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]?
I once knew someone with that name and I’ve always liked it. She was never called [name_f]Mary[/name_f], but always [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] thought I’d pass the idea along, because I think the two names make a sweet sibling set.
[name_f]Eve[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Gwendolyn[/name_f], but call her by the name [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Gwen[/name_f].
[name_u]LOVE[/name_u], [name_u]LOVE[/name_u]…classic simplicity at its best…
