I have only ever seen the name spelt as [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f].
I personally think that [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] would automatically be spelt wrong, and it would be annoying having to correct people all the time.
It’s a lovely classical name though! I personally wouldn’t use it but I can see how it could be a nice name for a child and adult.
I think the [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] spelling is nice if you plan on using a nickname ([name_f]Cece[/name_f] or [name_f]Celia[/name_f])
I love [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]!
Aw, love this name, it’s a family name, has always been spelled [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]. I do like both spellings though. It is sometimes misspelled but not mispronounced. Classic and well known enough but not too popular.
I’ve met one little [name_f]Celia[/name_f] and it was adorable!
I personally prefer [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f], I enjoy the “roundness” of it.
I love the name [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]! It strikes me as being delicate and feminine without being overly frilly.
I also like [name_f]Celia[/name_f] but would stick with the original spelling of [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] for the full name.
I’d use the more commonly used spelling in your area to reduce spelling errors. I think in [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_u]America[/name_u] it’s [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], so that’s what I voted for. I really like the name and it’s nickname options.
I love this name - its stunning. I prefer the traditional spelling [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], with the nickname of Ceila.
I also recommend using the most common spelling in your area, unless you have a special tie to one spelling.
I’ve also seen the Norwegian spelling [name_f]Cecilie[/name_f] used before.
I agree with pp that using the most common spelling is probably for the best. I think that’d be [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]. As for the name, I find it elegant and vintage. A nice choice.
I really like both, and I’ve never thought about which spelling I prefer before. I voted [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f], I think I prefer the ever so slightly longer look about it.
Gorgeous name! I voted [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] as it looks the most right to me and I’m assuming it’s the traditional spelling. Though I do find the second e appealing in [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]. I think name berry’s suggestion as follow is quite helpful…
“Three times as many babies are given the [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] spelling as get the [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] one, though if you plan on calling your daughter [name_f]Cece[/name_f] or [name_f]Celia[/name_f], [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] may feel like the more logical spelling.”
I much prefer [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f], particularly because I love the nickname [name_f]Celia[/name_f] and I think it works better with that spelling.
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] all the way. [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] looks incorrect.
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] for sure, [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] is a little weird to me with the double e’s and I would also pronounce it differently because of that like cee-cee-lee-ah versus ciss-sil-lia.
