Cedric or Donovan?
I’m worried Cedric is too soft sounding of a name but I love the meaning.
I find Cerdric has some sharp and zippy sounds to be honest, rather than soft. It does have a gentle vibe to it as well. I think [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] is very handsome. I’m finding it difficult to say which I prefer because they feel like quite different names: [name_m]Cedric[/name_m] more academic and [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] more [name_u]Irish[/name_u] glam…I think sound-wise, I like [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] more.
I like that [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] has so many nicknames ! He gets my vote
I would think [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] sounds softer than [name_m]Cedric[/name_m]. I prefer [name_m]Cedric[/name_m] out of the two!
I like them both about equally, but they are very different kinds of names. [name_m]Cedric[/name_m] is old (like 1930s) but classy, while [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] is more 1990s retro cool.
[name_m]Donovan[/name_m] is my favorite!
I prefer [name_m]Cedric[/name_m]!
I like [name_m]Cedric[/name_m]! I think that first syllable is soft, but the second is snappy and sharp, which I think creates balance and charm!
I enjoy [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] a lot too - sort of musical, strong, rugged and charming too! Plus nice nicknames (Donny, [name_u]Van[/name_u], [name_u]Danny[/name_u], [name_u]Dove[/name_u] (might suit some kids!))
Difficult choice then! I think I like [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] a little more?
I prefer [name_m]Cedric[/name_m]. It is more elegant and “knightly”.
[name_m]Cedric[/name_m], definitely!
Both are great! I personally slightly prefer [name_m]Donovan[/name_m]. I like the consonance a little bit more, and how it runs off your tongue.
Oh I love Cedric!! He’s masculine without sounding harsh + the meaning is lovely
I’m biased toward [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] because it’s on our list but [name_m]Cedric[/name_m] isn’t bad either! I don’t think it’s too soft.
I don’t love either - but that’s OK! If forced to choose, I would pick [name_m]Donovan[/name_m]. [name_m]Cedric[/name_m] gives me medieval friar, wizard, scholar goth vibes, while [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] is still attached to the 60s singer, and has more strong, rugged, laid-back imagery. I think it down ends on last name, siblings and family culture too.
I prefer [name_m]Donovan[/name_m].
