I like both names but for different reasons.
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] sounds like a young girl’s name. [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] sounds like a woman’s name. I like the nn [name_f]Cece[/name_f] a lot.
I went to high school with a girl named [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] and she was a very boring person who didn’t fit the name at all. For me [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] is so much prettier and more unique than [name_f]Celeste[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]! [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] is a favorite of mine! I just love the astronomical or [name_f]Heaven[/name_f] association of the word celestial
To me, Cecily is a bit juvenile and boring. Celeste is a bit more unique and has a stunning definition <3
[name_f]Cecile[/name_f]!!!
I think [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] ages magnificently – maybe because I know an adult [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], and could easily see it on a young girl.
I dislike [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] because of the star/sky/space association, which is just a personal quirk of mine. Also, to me, it sounds like it is “trying too hard” to be sleek, and modern, and sexy.
[name_m]Both[/name_m]?! Okay. I’ve loved [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] since I was a little kid reading The [name_u]Story[/name_u] Girl, and it’s shockingly underused. But [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] is smooth and pretty. I’m a big fan of the “middle option,” [name_f]Cecile[/name_f]. But if that’s not an option, I’d go for [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]. It feels a touch more versatile. I can see it on a little girl, a businesswoman, or a funny lady (a la [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] Strong). [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], while beautiful, feels a touch more serious.
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f], to me, sounds more melodic, fresh and happy. [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] sounds a little…dusty and mean to me, and the sound is just a little displeasing but I’m unsure why. [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is also an option.
I prefer [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], but I don’t really like [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] which sounds cold and dull to me. [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] is a mostly prim and proper Victorian-era lady with a gleam in her eye, who loves balls and garden parties and afternoon tea but doesn’t waste a second kicking off her nice shoes and pulling off her stockings the second everyone’s gone.
I really love both of these names in their own way, so it’s hard to choose between them. They each have a different feel. I see [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] as fun and cheeky, which [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] is soft and more serious. I think for that reason I personally prefer [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] as a middle option, and [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] as a first name. I think [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] is more versatile, with the ability to sound grown up and lady-like, but also adorable on a baby and little girl.
Although I love [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] is a beauty to me. A prettier varation from [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] that suits any little girl.
