[name_f]Celestia[/name_f] feels airy and open, [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] a bit stuffy and prudish, maybe because of the Prim part (prim and proper).

I don’t want to offend anyone, but [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] sounds very prissy to me. I guess it’s the ‘Prim’ as in “prim and proper”. [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] sounds prettier to me too.

In my head [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] can be whatever she wants. [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] will always be cute, not tough, just cute.

The two names give off different vibes for me. [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] is from outer space: otherworldly, ethereal and princess-y. [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is solidly earthy: down-to-earth, prim, proper, no-nonsense. I think a girl would prefer to be called [name_f]Celestia[/name_f]. [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] may be difficult to wear especially in the angst-ridden teenage years so I think it would make a quirky middle name. Although I do prefer just [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], I’ll vote for [name_f]Celestia[/name_f].

I like [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] better because it is prettier to me and has lots more options for every girl. Where are [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] will always be Prim or [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] can be [name_f]Celia[/name_f], [name_u]Lessie[/name_u], [name_f]Lia[/name_f], [name_f]Tia[/name_f], Sia, [name_f]Lettie[/name_f], [name_f]Ettie[/name_f], [name_f]Etta[/name_f], Cettie etc. She could be any type of girl.

For what it’s worth, I love [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] as a combo :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for replying and explaining your choice everyone! I don’t really talk about names with anyone else, so it’s nice to hear other’s opinions! [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] seems to be the favorite so far… It surprised me that people think of [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] as prudish, proper and stuffy. To me, [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] has always felt naturey, princessy, and somewhat magical. I picture a girl/woman who’s sweet and girly, but who will also surprise you as a someone who’s strong enough to hold her own, not stuffy at all! I agree that [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] feels airy, ethereal and princessy. I picture a complex person, someone who isn’t what you’d guess at first glance.

@dantea – I love [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]! Thank You! I’ll have to consider this. I’m not big on nicknames, but I do love Prim for [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]! (I love your daughter’s name by the way! [name_m]Both[/name_m] [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] and [name_f]Willow[/name_f] are on my list!)

I’m going to disagree with the majority here and say that I prefer [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]. The no-nonsense quality is what I like about it; [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] is too frilly for me. [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] has substance whereas [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] flutters around like a leaf in the breeze. Maybe you like that though? I also find [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] more wearable.

You know, I voted for [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] but maybe it’s just the hunger games kick I’m on. Now I’m thinking I should’ve gone with celestia. So I actually change mine to [name_f]Celestia[/name_f].

reminds me of [name_f]Celestial[/name_f] Seasons teas, all cozy and teddy bear like.

[name_f]Primrose[/name_f] I adore. All sorts of good nicknames like [name_f]Polly[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosa[/name_f], [name_f]Primula[/name_f], etc.

I prefer [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]!

I love [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]. I think my husband is to blame for my lack of appreciation for [name_f]Celestia[/name_f]. I had [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] on my name list and he said it made him think of the word “molest.” Totally ruined it for me.

Thanks everyone! Nice to see [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] getting some love!

I think a tough and tomboyish [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] would be amazing.

[name_f]Celestia[/name_f]. I actually prefer [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]?

I love [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]. [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] for me is sort of too whimsy. She doesn’t sound reliable, sounds flighty and “spaced” off. [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] on the other hand sounds like she has delicate strength with a good head on her.

Assuming this is for a hypothetical human baby girl, I have to say [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] because [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] is aaaaallll My [name_m]Little[/name_m] Pony to me. But I’d really prefer [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] over either.

I like them both. I also think they sound very well in a combo. I like [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] together!!!

My vote goes to [name_f]Primrose[/name_f]. I do [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] the sound of [name_f]Celestia[/name_f], though [name_m]Say[/name_m] it a few times–it sounds magical. That being said, [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] seems like a name for a flighty or head-in-the-clouds person. It’s maybe a little too magical. [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is very feminine as well, but (to me) really spunky and intelligent-sounding at the same time. And if you’re turned off by the “Prim” thing (which I don’t see as a problem), you could always use [name_f]Rosy[/name_f] as a nickname instead.

They both sound more like characters than an actual human being.

[name_f]Celeste[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] would be my choice.

I like [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] better, but I wouldn’t want it as my name. [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] and [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] both have very strong vibes, in different directions. [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] feels like a better name to me, more like a name, while [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is sweet and clever and darling, but…not a name I can see on a harried mother of 3, or a cutthroat lawyer who is feared by her competition, or truly working on a lot of women.

[name_f]Primrose[/name_f] doesn’t feel prim to me, despite the first syllable, but it isn’t a name that asks to be taken seriously. While [name_f]Celestia[/name_f] does feel a bit [name_f]Luna[/name_f] Lovegood-y I can also see it being pulled off well by more women.
