  • Yes, it’s a boys’ name : 4 (13%)
  • No, it’s gone over to the girls : 9 (30%)
  • Yes, it’s unisex and works well for both : 5 (17%)
  • No, it’s technically unisex, but I would be surprised to see it on a boy: 12 (40%)

I don’t know the technical answer, but it sounds pretty feminine to me. But it’s for the middle name, which takes the pressure off. Unless paired with something also ambiguous, I think it’s fine. If you love it, you should use it! I prefer it with the e on the end.

And congrats on [name]William[/name] “[name]Liam[/name]” [name]Balthazar[/name]!!

It’s fine for a boy. What about [name]Celestino[/name]?

Corentine? [name]Quentin[/name]?

Of course! It’s unisex because it’s a stone/mineral (a very pretty pale blue)

[name]Celestine[/name] is so uncommon that many people will not even know it but because it ends in -tine they will automatically call it feminine. It’s a great name. I have a friend with the surname [name]Celestin[/name] so I like that name too

Oh, I love [name]Alexander[/name] [name]Constantine[/name].

I just checked the 2012 numbers. [name]Celestine[/name] was used 17 times for girls and didn’t appear at all on the boys’ side. So it’s safe to say that [name]Celestine[/name] is incredibly rare for both sexes, and I do think that you could get away with using it for your son’s middle name. However, I have to say that [name]Celestine[/name] does feel weak next to [name]Liam[/name]'s middle name of [name]Balthazar[/name]. [name]Celestine[/name] is soft, it’s not particularly cool, and it’s not energetic or powerful like [name]Balthazar[/name] is. [name]Constantine[/name] is the perfect match with [name]Balthazar[/name]. [name]Alexander[/name] [name]Constantine[/name] sounds great.

Ooo, congrats on your little [name]Liam[/name]. What a stong name, and I love the daring [name]Balthazar[/name] in the middle.
[name]Celestine[/name] on a boy, I am falling in love. <3 I used to have on my girls list, but it didn’t have the spark I was looking for. But for a boy… It’s romantic, angelic, silvery blue and white, snowy winter nights… Maybe you don’t want the beautiful, soft imagery I have tied to it, but I love it. I can totally see Alexander Celestine. The fn is a traditional, familiar masculine name to balance the middle, sweet!!
Valentine and Constantine are also swoon worthy name, very delightful.
Oh, and as for other -tine names, there aren’t many. You have the best options, imo. But there is Florentine or Palatine. And why not Zephyrine…

Yeah, I agree [name]Constantine[/name] probably is a better match with [name]Balthazar[/name], and I think I actually do like him a little more than [name]Celestine[/name] (although [name]Valentine[/name] is my current favorite of all the -tine names), but there’s room for both on them on the long list for now! Thanks for the statistics on [name]Celestine[/name]; knowing that it’s rare for both makes me more confident about putting it on the possibility list (maybe even for both genders).

Oh, that’s beautiful imagery! And I’m happy that there is at least one other person who loves Celestine on a boy!

Yeah, I think Valentine, Constantine, Augustine, and Celestine probably are the best -tine names for boys, but I figured I would at least ask. Florentine and Palatine don’t really appeal, and while I do like Zephyrine, that name is definitely a girl’s name for me. (But Zephyr might be a good addition to the list…)

I’m not really a fan of Celestino for some reason, although that is a good suggestion to make it obviously male.

Corentine is one I’ve never heard before. I can’t decide if I like it or not, but I do rather like Quentin. “Q” would be a fun middle initial! Thanks.
