Celia, Cecilia, or Cecelia nn Celia?

I love both [name_f]Celia[/name_f] and [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], but can’t decide between them. I’m not big on [name_f]Cece[/name_f] as a nn, which makes me lean toward [name_f]Celia[/name_f]. But does [name_f]Celia[/name_f] sound incomplete, or will people assume it’s short for [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]? I know a girl named [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] (not [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]) who hates when people do that with her name, so I wanted to avoid that. That’s what makes me consider [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] with [name_f]Celia[/name_f] as nn, even though I’m usually in the “name them what you call them” camp.

So what do you all think? Also, which do you think goes better with the other names in my signature?

I do agree [name_f]Celia[/name_f] kinda gives off that unfinished feeling. If you go with [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]/[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] you’re probably gonna have to expect some people to call her [name_f]Cece[/name_f], but that doesn’t mean her nickname still couldn’t be [name_f]Celia[/name_f]. For your nickname, I like the spelling of [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] better.

[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] is pretty! I also like [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] a lot too!

I’ve been really liking [name_f]Celia[/name_f] recently. I love the meaning, and I think it has the same sort of vintage charm as [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]. But there’s less of a chance of getting [name_f]Cece[/name_f] as a nickname, and no problems with explaining that she only goes by [name_f]Celia[/name_f] and not by her full name. So I’d say go for [name_f]Celia[/name_f], and it fits really well with your other names, particularly [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f], and [name_f]Mary[/name_f]! [name_f]Celia[/name_f] is three syllables long as it is, and definitely sounds like, as well as is, a full and finished name to me anyway.

I know a [name_f]Celia[/name_f] who was an amazing person so I really like the name personally! I think it is also very feminine and it feels completed on its own.
Among your list, I like [name_f]Celia[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] the best!

I, personally, really love [name_f]Celia[/name_f] and don’t think it sounds incomplete at all, and [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] is rather cumbersome in comparison. Besides which, [name_f]Celia[/name_f] is more likely to get shortened to [name_f]Celie[/name_f] over [name_f]Cece[/name_f], which I think is far cuter.
Of your list, my favorites are [name_f]Celia[/name_f] ruby and [name_f]Celia[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f].

I really enjoy [name_f]Celia[/name_f]. I think it sounds a bit fresher than [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]. [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] can sound weighted down or less “fun”… I like [name_f]Celia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] personally.

I don’t think anyone would call [name_f]Celia[/name_f], [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]. For me they sound like completely different names.

[name_f]Celia[/name_f] is in my top four girls’ names. I love it and love it much more than [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]/[name_f]Cecelia[/name_f], which is too frilly for me. I went through a time where I considered using [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Celia[/name_f], but decided against it. [name_f]Celia[/name_f] is a totally different name, with different origins and a different and wonderful meaning. I think it stands on its own beautifully!

I love both, but the meaning for [name_f]Celia[/name_f] is much nicer

If you are worried that people will call her [name_f]Cece[/name_f], [name_f]Celia[/name_f] would be your best bet. Personally I prefer [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] or just [name_f]Celie[/name_f], but all of them are lovely.

I also like [name_f]Celia[/name_f] on its own best.

I much prefer [name_f]Celia[/name_f] on her own, she has a chic, sophisticated feel, I love her meaning ([name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] means 'blind), I love that she’s the unexpected choice, that she’s familiar but not common or ordinary.
She’s also a better fit with your other names, and I don’t think she looks incomplete in the least. Your reason for maybe choosing [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] doesn’t hold water for me, if [name_f]Celia[/name_f] is the name you love and will call her, than she definitely doesn’t need [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], which you don’t seem to love. That people assume [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is short for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] seems like a rare occurrence to me, and I don’t think it will happen much with [name_f]Celia[/name_f].

I really love the name [name_f]Celia[/name_f] - it stands beautifully on its own!
