Ok with this question, please ignore the latest 2013 trend on NB! As [name]Imogen[/name], while popular on here, is not hugely popular where I live! Though popular enough that people know how to pronounce it
I recently posted a thread about the name [name]Celia[/name] about my love for the name but my concern that its an anagram of [name]Alice[/name] (my older daughters name.)
Though my husband is still coming back to [name]Imogen[/name]. Which I do love but Iām just not sure. Hubby likes [name]Celia[/name] but prefers [name]Cecelia[/name] (though I think itās too long for our other names)
The middle name is highly likely to be [name]Christine[/name] ([name]MIL[/name] name).
So [name]Celia[/name], [name]Imogen[/name] or maybe [name]Cecelia[/name]?
Options still in the mix but down the list - [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Maggie[/name]
Discarded by husband(!) - [name]Rose/name, [name]Corrine[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name]
I prefer [name]Imogen[/name] to [name]Celia[/name], but [name]Cecilia[/name] [name]Christine[/name] sounds the best of your top choices (I donāt think its length is a concern). [name]Imogen[/name] sounds best with siblings [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Harry[/name]. Also consider variant [name]Cecily[/name].
[name]Maggie[/name] is cute, but Iād prefer it as a nickname to something longerā¦[name]Magnolia[/name], perhaps? You expressed desire for floral names ([name]Rose[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Heather[/name]). [name]Lucy[/name] is cute as well. Another name that popped into my mind was [name]Flora[/name], with its floral connection, short length, and vintage-feel that fits right into [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Harry[/name].
Let me know if youād like any more ideas, Iād be happy to provide.
[name]Celia[/name] or [name]Imogen[/name] + [name]Christine[/name] + (last name). Whatās the surnameās first initial and how many syllables does it have?
[name]Celia[/name] if (1) You like the double C initials and nickname [name]CeCe[/name]. (2) Your last name doesnāt start with a C nor it it 2 syllables.
[name]Imogen[/name] (1) Your last name is 1 syllable and doesnāt begin with an E. (2) Anagrams bother you.
Last name is Took (pronounced with a hard oo sound like Cook)
I love the flow of [name]Cecelia[/name] or [name]Celia[/name] Took and [name]Imogen[/name] Took but it loses its flow when the mn [name]Christine[/name] is added in.
However, itās one of those situations that I may just have to accept as its a family name. Plus, people wonāt know middle name in a day-to-day situation.
My hubby dislikes [name]Flora[/name]. We have a brand of margarine/butter called [name]Flora[/name] and that all he can think of!
I love both [name]Celia[/name] and [name]Imogen[/name], though Iām not as fond of [name]Cecelia[/name]. I agree with an above poster, however that [name]Cecelia[/name] [name]Christine[/name] sounds best. As for the [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Celia[/name] issue, I didnāt even notice it until you pointed it out and I think they sound different enough that only the odd person will notice it. Additionally, it would be a cute way to link the girls as sisters.
Well, Iām gonna sit here and pull for my name, ([name]Cecilia[/name]; this is also the original spelling and I vastly prefer it), so bear with me.
I go by [name]Celia[/name] most of the time, not because I ask to be called that, but because I REFUSE to be a CC and [name]Celia[/name] is less of a mouthful, so people default to that. I have had very few people straight up PICK a nickname for me upon hearing my name; they ALWAYS ask, so donāt worry about nicknames, pick one you like. I also have a list of nicknames if you donāt like CC.
[name]Celia[/name] being an anagram of [name]Alice[/name] is actually kind of cute, I think. They have very different sounds so it isnāt an issue, just a cool thing.
[name]Christine[/name] as a middle name flows fine. [name]Celia[/name] [name]Christine[/name] Took. [name]Cecilia[/name] [name]Christine[/name] Took.
Also, I think that [name]Lucy[/name] goes best with your other two childrenās names. I throw them all into my āLightly British Classicsā category. [name]Alice[/name], [name]Harry[/name], and [name]Lucy[/name] is an awesome sibset. [name]Celia[/name]/[name]Cecilia[/name] would feel out of place to me (Not a big deal AT ALL, just throwing it out there).
Iām not a fan of [name]Imogen[/name], but then I donāt know how to pronounce it (lawlā¦).
Personal reasons aside (my name is [name]Imogen[/name] haha) I prefer [name]Imogen[/name]. [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Christine[/name] flows and it avoids alliteration in the fn and mn. Unless youāre into that sort of stuff!
Are you a fan of double middles? [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Christine[/name] is pretty combo or even get rid of [name]Imogen[/name] and have [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Christine[/name]! Iām starting to think I like [name]Lucy[/name] the best now, but it could clash with the āsā sound in [name]Alice[/name] and the āeeā sound in [name]Harry[/name]. then again, I could be thinking to much into it⦠gorgeous sibsets btw!
[name]Maggie[/name] is adorable, but it does seem more like a nn to me. although [name]Harry[/name] also seems more of nn of [name]Harrison[/name], so [name]Maggie[/name] could fit in nicely!
[name]Cecelia[/name] seems too dated, whereas [name]Celia[/name] seems more vintage and classic. If you were to choose between these two Iād opt for [name]Celia[/name]
Definitely go with [name]Imogen[/name]. Please refer to my earlier response. [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Christine[/name] Took > [name]Celia[/name] [name]Christine[/name] Took. There are less minuses with [name]Imogen[/name] than [name]Celia[/name]. Best of luck.
I actually think itās cute for their names to be anagrams! Itās a nice tie in, but not blatantly obvious. Plus [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Celia[/name] are very different in feel, though similar in composition.
I think the anagram names are cute for sisters! They donāt sound similar so people most likely wonāt even notice unless you point it out. Not sure how I feel about [name]Celia[/name] with [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Harry[/name], or with the middle and last name. I think [name]Lucy[/name] fits the best with the siblings and the rest of the name.
Thanks for all your responses! Now Iām confused as I agree with some berries that [name]Lucy[/name] fits with MN and surnameā¦as well as with [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Harry[/name]
Arggghhhhh! Though I still think Iām leaning towards [name]Imogen[/name]ā¦
ktook - Iām really looking forward to following your naming journey! [name]Cecilia[/name], [name]Celia[/name] and [name]Imogen[/name] are all lovely. Personally, I love [name]Cecilia[/name] [name]Christine[/name]. [name]Imogen[/name], [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Maggie[/name] all work beautifully with your sibset. As Iāve said before, [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Harry[/name] are lovely and I love your taste in names! If it were up to me, I think Iād choose [name]Cecilia[/name]. Eager to see what you think!
This is what I keep coming back to! The mn just doesnāt flow with the first name choices. Though I always thought the same of [name]Alice[/name] [name]Heather[/name], and I got used to that. I just donāt think I could change the love of a first name simply for a " flow" with middle.
Thanks [name]Sarah[/name] :). You and I are definitely on the same wavelength when it comes to names.
So I briefly raised it with hubby again tonight. He said heās āoverā [name]Lucy[/name]. He said it sounds like Juicy [name]Lucy[/name]ā¦! Heās even more keen on [name]Imogen[/name] now. But [name]Cecelia[/name] (or maybe [name]Cecilia[/name]) and [name]Celia[/name] are still top.
That mn is just killing my name process at the moment though!
[name]Celia[/name] is totally lovely, and my favourite of your options ignoring flow, but using formal name [name]Cecilia[/name] nn [name]Celia[/name] solves flow issues nicely. I agree with above posts and donāt think many people would notice or mind that they are anagrams, but it might be special for your girls.
Unrelated, my hubby vetoed [name]Flora[/name] due to the margarine as well lol, along with my long time love [name]Cleo[/name] due to the magazine. Frustrating!
Yes! [name]Cleo[/name] is off any list of ours for the same reason. Though my husband often doesnāt need a reason to veto a name. Sometimes itās just laughter, an eye roll or āare you joking?ā. Husbands ARE frustrating!
[name]Imogen[/name]! She fits in perfectly with [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Harry[/name], she has sort of that matching vintage British feel to it, the whole down-to-[name]Earth[/name] thing I feel with [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Harry[/name]. [name]Celia[/name] (and [name]Cecelia[/name]) feel a bit more frilly and formal, especially next to [name]Harry[/name].
Also I love the literary connection - [name]Alice[/name] in Wonderland, [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name], [name]Shakespeare[/name]. I donāt know if you were going for that but itās a subtle link between the names that is just so cute.
[name]Just[/name] a thought, would changing [name]Christine[/name] to [name]Christina[/name] be an option for you? [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Christina[/name] has slightly better flow than [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Christine[/name] if youāre not set on using the name as-is.
While [name]Imogen[/name] is popular on Nameberry, it is NOT popular in general. I really wouldnāt let the fact that the name has appeared a tiny bit on the map deter you from using it. [name]Celia[/name] and [name]Cecilia[/name] are far more popular. I do think the anagram of [name]Celia[/name] would be an issue. [name]Cecilia[/name] goes fine, although [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Cecilia[/name] doesnāt flow as well as [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Imogen[/name]. [name]Imogen[/name] goes great with [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Harry[/name]!
I also want to throw in that [name]Lucy[/name] would work very nicely as well. [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] are favorite sister names of mine. Good luck!
