Challenge: Girly nn out of boyish fn

Challenge: Girly nn out of boyish fn

What about [name_u]Emory[/name_u]/[name_u]Emery[/name_u] or [name_u]Ember[/name_u] nn [name_f]Emme[/name_f]? [name_u]Alden[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is a fine combo, but I personally don’t care for it too much. I don’t like [name_u]Alden[/name_u], and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] has always been a name that I’ve hated.

[name_u]Alden[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is okay. I don’t think you need another E name really. but if you want to use [name_f]Emme[/name_f], what about the initials M.E ? Like [name_u]Marley[/name_u] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] nn [name_f]Emme[/name_f]?
[name_f]Emerald[/name_f], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Emira[/name_f], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]??

Childhood is a very short period of time compared to adulthood so a name that sounds all “grown up” is the way to go. We spend most of our lives as adults, don’t we? [name_u]Alden[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] could have the nn’s [name_u]Deni[/name_u] or [name_f]Janie[/name_f]. [name_u]Alden[/name_u] means “old” so that’s a minus. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you want another name ending in “n”?

[name_f]Afton[/name_f]
[name_u]Auden[/name_u]
[name_u]Emery[/name_u]/[name_u]Emory[/name_u]
[name_u]Ember[/name_u]/Amberley
[name_f]Erin[/name_f]
[name_m]Ezra[/name_m]/[name_u]Ezri[/name_u]
[name_m]Egan[/name_m]
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u]
[name_u]Ennis[/name_u]
[name_m]Eustace[/name_m]/Eustiss
[name_u]Adair[/name_u]
[name_u]Hollis[/name_u]
[name_f]Amity[/name_f]
[name_u]Arden[/name_u]
[name_u]Ashton[/name_u]
[name_u]Austen[/name_u]
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u]
[name_u]Averill[/name_u]
[name_f]Atherton[/name_f]
[name_m]Arran[/name_m]
[name_u]Arlyn[/name_u]
[name_m]Archer[/name_m]
[name_m]Ansel[/name_m]
[name_m]Alston[/name_m]
[name_m]Adriel[/name_m]
[name_m]Ackerley[/name_m]

I am also suggesting [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. I think it’s lovely, and a logical way to get to [name_f]Emme[/name_f]. I know it’s quite girly, but I think it works in your sibset, because [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is also quite feminine, and both your girls’ nicknames are very sweet and girly.

Other [name_f]Em[/name_f] names to consider: [name_u]Embry[/name_u], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Emeline[/name_f], [name_f]Emelia[/name_f], [name_u]Ember[/name_u]…

Also, I think that you could get to [name_f]Emme[/name_f] by using a name that starts with an M - [name_u]Morgan[/name_u], [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], [name_u]Marlow[/name_u], [name_f]Marin[/name_f], [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]… It’s a bit of a stretch, but I don’t think that matters when it comes to nicknames.

I love [name_u]Alden[/name_u], personally I think [name_f]Jane[/name_f] sounds a little harsh with it, while I love [name_f]Jane[/name_f] it has very strong sounds. Some other nickname options you might consider could be [name_f]Enna[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f], and maybe Liddy.

As for [name_f]Emme[/name_f], [name_u]Emery[/name_u] was my first thought or perhaps [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. Some others that might work [name_f]Tamsin[/name_f], [name_u]Ember[/name_u], [name_f]Gemma[/name_f], [name_f]Jemima[/name_f], [name_f]Noemie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemonde[/name_f], [name_f]Temperance[/name_f]

Some other boyish names with girls nn: [name_u]Adair[/name_u] nn [name_f]Ada[/name_f]/[name_u]Ari[/name_u], [name_u]Arden[/name_u] nn [name_u]Ari[/name_u], [name_m]Ansel[/name_m] nn [name_f]Annie[/name_f]/ [name_f]Sally[/name_f], Ferriby nn Faira, [name_u]Malin[/name_u] nn [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Merrigan[/name_f] nn [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_u]Penrose[/name_u] nn [name_u]Penny[/name_u]/[name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Persis[/name_f] nn [name_u]Percy[/name_u]/[name_f]Sissy[/name_f], [name_f]Rhonwen[/name_f] nn [name_f]Winnie[/name_f],

[name_u]Alden[/name_u] sounds very masculine to me, especially with sisters [name_u]Ellison[/name_u] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. [name_u]Auden[/name_u] would be better, with nickname [name_f]Aud[/name_f], Auds, Denna or [name_u]Deni[/name_u].

I would suggest [name_f]Della[/name_f] or [name_f]Delli[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_u]Alden[/name_u].

[name_u]Alden[/name_u] is too masculine… Hmmm, [name_u]Ellison[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f], and…
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] nickname [name_f]Emme[/name_f] (pronounced [name_f]Emmy[/name_f]).
OR, [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] ([name_f]Emme[/name_f]), but I prefer [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f].

I am not totally sold on [name_f]Jane[/name_f] for the middle name. My first choice was [name_f]Grace[/name_f] but there is apparently an online store called [name_u]Alden[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] so I scrapped it. I do like [name_f]Della[/name_f] as a nn. [name_u]Auden[/name_u] is an interesting suggestion. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it would be hard for people to pronounce?
A friend suggested Emerett (sp?) Is it too made up looking/sounding?

[name_u]Alden[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is well outside my normal style, but for some reason it seems very elegant and grounded to me. A bit powerful, definitely on the masculine side but somehow it doesn’t bother me the way that often does. I like it. [name_f]Della[/name_f]'s great, and [name_f]Ada[/name_f] or [name_f]Alda[/name_f] would be cute. I don’t like [name_u]Alden[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] as well.

[name_f]Emme[/name_f] could come from anything with an [name_f]Em[/name_f] in the middle too. [name_u]Artemis[/name_u], [name_f]Clemency[/name_f], [name_u]December[/name_u], [name_f]Demetria[/name_f], [name_m]Emrys[/name_m], [name_f]Jemima[/name_f], [name_f]Remember[/name_f], even [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f].
I do think [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] fits really well with [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f], though.

[name_u]Emory[/name_u], [name_m]Emrys[/name_m] and [name_u]Ember[/name_u] seem your best bets for names beginning with an E…

Boyish/Surnames that you could get “[name_f]Emme[/name_f]” from: [name_m]Fleming[/name_m], [name_u]Remy[/name_u]
Traditional girl names: [name_f]Jemima[/name_f], [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]

Good luck!

I like it. You could call her [name_f]Janie[/name_f].

I think [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] would be nice with your other names. No nickname needed, but [name_f]Bree[/name_f] would work.

For the record, my cousin is mary elizabeth and she’s m.e. pronounced emme (: So as someone said, you could go that route if you wanted! I personally would go with another e name though. just my .02!

Unless you’re 100% sure you want an [name_f]Emme[/name_f], would you consider another “E” nickname like [name_f]Effie[/name_f] or [name_f]Edie[/name_f]?

[name_f]Imogen[/name_f], nn [name_f]Immy[/name_f]
That would be super cute.

Im not a fan of [name_u]Alden[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], seems really clunky. What about [name_u]Arden[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]? Still sort of tom-boyish with the sweet nn [name_u]Ari[/name_u].

I like the suggestion of [name_u]Emory[/name_u] nn [name_f]Emme[/name_f].

Suggestions-
[name_m]Remington[/name_m] nn [name_u]Remy[/name_u]
[name_u]Avery[/name_u] nn [name_f]Ava[/name_f]
[name_u]Kendall[/name_u] nn Kenly
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]

[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] nn [name_u]Scout[/name_u]
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_m]Torin[/name_m] nn [name_f]Tori[/name_f]
[name_u]Larkin[/name_u] nn [name_f]Lark[/name_f]

you can go the Hollywood route and try [name_u]Everest[/name_u]

love [name_u]Ember[/name_u], has a lil feminine flair but strong.

[name_u]Alden[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] - is extremely masculine, try [name_m]Adler[/name_m] instead - at least it has a little feminine connection through [name_f]Irene[/name_f] [name_m]Adler[/name_m] from [name_m]Sherlock[/name_m] [name_m]Holmes[/name_m]

What about [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] nn [name_f]Ettie[/name_f] or [name_f]Edie[/name_f]? [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]? Definitely a boyish fn, and it has the Ls that you have in [name_u]Ellison[/name_u] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u].

I know you’ll never go for [name_f]Edwina[/name_f], but I’ll offer it anyway, because it creates the wonderful nn [name_f]Winnie[/name_f].

[name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] ([name_f]Geni[/name_f])
Esmonde (Essi)
[name_u]Emory[/name_u], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] ([name_f]Emme[/name_f])
[name_f]Edina[/name_f] ([name_m]Eddie[/name_m])
Emeric ([name_m]German[/name_m] boy’s name, may sound a little too close to [name_u]America[/name_u] and might cause confusion)
