I’d just say keep [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_u]Lake[/name_u]. Why change it? [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is perfectly fine as a nickname for [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], and [name_f]Evie[/name_f] itself is very cute but I would not choose as a full name. ~
I think you’re right about how [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], & [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] doesn’t sound right. [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] does works better, but whatever you decide to do will be fine because [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], & [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is the most darling sibset ever!
I’d keep [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], and call her [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. It’s a perfectly fine nickname for her full name, and if she really wants to go by [name_f]Eve[/name_f] when she gets older, she can do that too! I wouldn’t actually legally change it.
I would keep [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u].
Honestly as a mom myself, I do not understand parents wanting to change their children’s names. This is not directed only toward you. I have read several of these posts and would bite my lip. I am also not trying to upset you or make you feel bad, not my intention at all. I just truthfully do not understand it. I know when my son was born, he became that name. The name was no longer a name but him. There is no way, no how that I could change his name, it would be changing a part of him, a big part of him.
I so love [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_u]Lake[/name_u]! [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is also adorable, as a nn. I hope you keep it as is.
I can understand being unsure of your daughters name–sometimes, in spite of or because of, the beauty of the name, the child just doesn’t seem to fit it. I worried about my daughter’s name (I didn’t pick it). But now I really don’t think she could be anyone else.
Babies are wonderful, gooey, chubby, smelly, adorable, noisy critters that we love with all of us but sometimes seem to be a species all their own. I can see how [name_f]Evie[/name_f] could fit but [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] feel heavy or too big and grown up…but [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is a lovely name and little [name_f]Evie[/name_f] one day won’t be little. I just wouldn’t changge it because you love and know her as [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and having a different full name seems unlikely to make a difference. I think when you are watching her go through college and you see her name on a deans list or walk her down the aisle at her wedding or see her name as the author of a book, [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] will seem gracious, grownup, amazing and perfect for your girl. In the meantime, stick with [name_f]Evie[/name_f]! There’s no harm and there’s a lot of precious attached to it. If really in doubt, try calling her [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] for a few days. I’ll bet (but could be wrong) it won’t feel any better. I really think it’s just that she’s so adorably baby right ow that [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] feels wrong.
[name_f]Evie[/name_f] is adorable x10 but [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is timeless and elegant and I think there will be instances and areas of her life in which she will prefer to go by [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. So I think you should leave it and continue using [name_f]Evie[/name_f] as a wonderful nickname until she needs to be timeless, elegant [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u].
I love [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] but I do think [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] fits a little better with [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_m]Felix[/name_m]. It’s similar in length and has a vintage-new-again vibe like [name_m]Felix[/name_m].
Best of luck.

Keep [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_u]Lake[/name_u]- it sounds and ages the best [name_f]IMO[/name_f]!! Nice name.
Keep [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] [name_u]Lake[/name_u]!! [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is adorable, but I don’t think it could stand on it’s own. It’s the perfect nickname for [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] is timeless, classic and I’m sure will fit her perfectly when she is older.
Wait till she’s older and you want to tell her off, then she’ll be [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]! I love the full name, and the nickname, I wouldn’t change it.
You didn’t offend me! Actually kind of grounded my point- [name_f]Evie[/name_f] has become her and I can’t imagine her as anything else- thus my issue with [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]- We are in no rush at all- just musing- thanks for all the feedback - definitely gives me something to think about
Thanks for the response! A lot of your examples really resonated with us- kind of put me in my daughter’s shoes
You are most welcome. I am so glad I did not offend you.
BTW I adore both [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u].
I think you should keep it. The nickname is well enough you could have everyone call her it, use it as her alias, her whole life.
