Hello everyone! Advice needed please: I named one of my 10 month old triplets [name]William[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] (before he was born we had decided on [name]Thomas[/name] [name]William[/name]). Now I keep changing my mind as I think he looks so much more like [name]Thomas[/name] and I find myself calling him that more than [name]William[/name]. However, I keep thinking that we choose [name]William[/name] over [name]Thomas[/name] originally for a reason… Argh! help!!! What do you think? [name]Do[/name] you prefer [name]William[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Thomas[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Rose[/name]?; [name]Mary[/name], [name]Edward[/name] and [name]Thomas[/name] or [name]Mary[/name], [name]Edward[/name] and [name]William[/name]? Thankyou! [name]Elinor[/name]
Since this baby is already in the world, I don’t think it matters what “sounds better” in the set.
If your baby is a [name]Thomas[/name], call him [name]Thomas[/name].
I go by my middle name.
Quite frankly, I hate it. Simply because my parents couldn’t agree on a name, so I got “stuck” going by [name]Paige[/name].
However, it’s easier for boys-who often go by mn’s because they’re named after their fathers and such-to go by a middle. Plus, when they get married they don’t have the dilemma of changing their name. I currently can’t choose between keeping the first name I love or my maiden name when I get married next fall.
Nonetheless, if your child doesn’t feel like a [name]William[/name] now, he won’t feel like one in 6 months or a year. If you want to call him [name]Thomas[/name]-do it. Changing his entire name legally doesn’t seem necessary, but is an option now.
I know lots of people that use their middle names as 1st names. When I went to college in the south my porfessors all asked me if I go by my middle name since my 1st is an obscure name. I was confused by that until I met many people that do it.
That happened to us recently. [name]Kaia[/name] [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] just didnt look like a [name]Kaia[/name]. I kept it to myself until my husband even said he liked [name]Felicity[/name] more than [name]Kaia[/name]. Now she goes by [name]Kaia[/name] [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Kaia[/name] or [name]Felicity[/name]. She answers to both names. Some people have questioned us. But really, it’s not that big of a deal.
[name]Hi[/name],
Well, I always loved [name]Mary[/name], [name]Edward[/name], and [name]Thomas[/name]. Divine with your kiddos’ names! And, I secretly - or not so secretly - liked that all of your kids had two syllables names. What it comes down to, though, is what you think of your son’s name. If you think he’s a [name]Thomas[/name] and prefer [name]Thomas[/name] to [name]William[/name], change it! Why not, right? [name]Both[/name] are timeless, elegant classics. Neither is a bad name. So, I’d do one of two things - change his name (legally) to [name]Thomas[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Rose[/name] and be done with it, or stick with [name]William[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] [name]Rose[/name] and just call him by his middle name (he can be W. [name]Thomas[/name] [name]Rose[/name] as an adult, I suppose). Neither is really the easy situation, I guess - on the one hand, you have to deal with changing a name, but on the other hand, you’ve got to go through a lifetime of, “He goes by his middle name, [name]Thomas[/name].” [name]Just[/name] go with what feels right!

PS I love [name]Alice[/name] in your family! [name]Alice[/name] [name]Rose[/name] - so sweet. [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Peter[/name], [name]Joseph[/name], [name]Sophie[/name], [name]Mary[/name], “[name]Thomas[/name],” [name]Edward[/name], and [name]Alice[/name]? So great. (If you every second-guess that stellar top choice, I also love [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Hannah[/name], and [name]Willa[/name] for a girl or [name]Isaac[/name] for a boy!)
I am not usually a fan of calling a child by a middle name. However, in this case, I would do just that instead of changing his name. [name]William[/name] [name]Thomas[/name] is so handsome (Actually my dad and brothers name). No need to change it,
