First of all, thank you to all who voted on my last poll! Here is a link to it for a little background information.
So I’ve finally settled on [name_f]Elke[/name_f] ([name_f]EL[/name_f]-kah) as my new first name. However, I’m still unsure on what middle I’d like to use. I did say in my last post that I’ve always loved [name_f]Willow[/name_f] despite its popularity for girls, but now after seeing that she has jumped up to #26, I’m not so sure on using her for myself anymore.
[name_f]Elke[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]: Pros: both names are honour names here, as [name_f]Elke[/name_f] is etymologically related to [name_f]Alice[/name_f], which is a name I’d love to honour because it’s a family name and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] in Wonderland was one of my favourite books growing up. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] honours my mum (who almost exclusively goes by [name_u]Jo[/name_u], though [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is not her name), and I also love the little hidden connection to [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]. Cons: I’m not entirely convinced that I like the flow, but I can’t entirely point my finger to the reason why. Also, I’ve always told myself that if I were to ever change my name, I’d have two middles because I always envied others who did. With a longer name like [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] I no longer think this is necessary, but another part of me is thinking that I should fulfill a long-term wish.
[name_f]Elke[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u]: Pros: I adore this name. [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] has been a huge name crush for a long time, and Primroses are a birth flower for [name_f]February[/name_f], my own birth month. [name_u]June[/name_u] honours my little sister, who was born in that month. I also think [name_u]June[/name_u] is a not-too-out-there way of honouring [name_f]Jane[/name_f], another family name. Cons: I’ll be honest and say that I can’t see many, which makes me think that maybe this should be the name I go for. The only downside I can think of is that [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] could possibly sound a tad unprofessional? I don’t feel comfortable sharing my age, but all I will say is that there are many people I know who are my age called [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f], and I know that flower names are becoming more popular within the newborn generation- so maybe I’m overthinking this as well because flower names are commonplace now.
Thank you for taking the time to read this! Which do you think I should choose?
Both combos are really lovely, but I certainly think that [name_f]Elke[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] suits you best! Because you can’t find any dislikes about this combo, I think it is perfect for you. The pairing of these names is so sweet and the flow is amazing. I don’t really think that [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] is unprofessional, especially when she is in the middle spot. I think [name_f]Elke[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is gorgeous!
It seems, to me at least, as if your heart has already chosen your name for you! [name_f]Elke[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is gorgeous, it’s jam-packed with meaning, and the fact that there are so few downsides on your “cons” list is very telling, I think.
These days, the lines between the names are considered “normal” and those that are not are blurring more and more as parents continue to give their children increasingly diverse and unusual names. I don’t think that [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] would sound “unprofessional” in the least, as it is not all that different from [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. Besides, as you said, there are many women your age with similar names, so it shouldn’t sound too out-of-place. I wouldn’t fret too much over it. But this is all just my humble opinion, and I am by no means telling you which name to pick. I know whichever name you select will be stunning!
I think [name_f]Elke[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] is the winner. The flow is absolutely beautiful! I don’t see anything “unprofessional” about [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], it’s a very sweet name. Especially in the middle, I don’t think it is a big deal.
