[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Everyone,

So I’m not having a baby. I’m looking for a name for myself. I’ve wanted to change my name for a long time and have actually done so before.

The name I have now is painful for me to hear because it reminds me of so much that I can’t get into. But long story short, my mother convinced me to go back during a very difficult time. And I have regretted the decision to reverse the change for over a year now.

Im not sure if I can just take the name I had changed to previously because I’m worried that in doing so I will end up facing the same problem of my name being a painful reminder.

I am certain that I want a fresh sound to identify myself with. I’ve thought about it for a long time but I still can’t find the name that’s right for me.

I hope you can all understand how important this is to me… Please don’t post discouraging comments. I’m posting because I’d like your opinions on the names I’m interested in, and I need your help finding a name that fits.

The name I changed to before was Aerides. It’s an orchid genus.

Now I’m looking at things that are still unique but with potential to make me smile. Here are some names I like

[name_f]Jinx[/name_f] : Is a Pokémon and bad luck I guess. Plobably won’t use this one but it sounds cool imo

Jinn : Myth creatures, sounds like a drink though. To me sounds quirky but still kind for normal and I appreciate that

[name_f]Itzel[/name_f] (eet-sal) : [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] lady, Mayan goddess of the moon, the earth and rainbows. [name_u]Unique[/name_u] and looks really cool on paper

[name_f]Etna[/name_f] : Volcano in [name_f]Italy[/name_f], also is the pronunciation of Irish name [name_f]Aithne[/name_f] which means fire. Volcanos are pretty awesome.

Quetzal (ket-zal) a rare bird found in Guatamala with really long tail feathers and a cute two note whistle

Can you guys please suggest any other names you come across that are kind of quirky and just a bit weird/fun? The names don’t have to be short. One or two syllables are cute and cool but longer names are great too. I feel like a girl named Metamorphosis would be crazy cool or a one woman 90’s soft rock band. Actually might need to add that to the list… like hey I’m so [name_f]Meta[/name_f] Ok I’m gonna stop now…

Liva and Liri are my favorites although I might have to go with the Lifa version of Liva cause I just made a friend with a similar name not long ago. I love the meaning and sound of these names!

I’m kind of liking Alev but it maybe sounds too much like Olive. Both Alev and Olive are cute names though!

Lifa is pretty! Are you still looking for suggestion or have you chosen it?

You could always go with those names that bring meaning because it sounds like changing your name is really personal for you.

[name_f]Evie[/name_f], [name_f]Nova[/name_f] and [name_f]Zera[/name_f] are all names around new beginnings. [name_f]Lenna[/name_f] means strong like a lion, [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]/[name_f]Matilde[/name_f] means battle/mighty warrior - same with [name_f]Zena[/name_f]. Or [name_u]Blaise[/name_u] and [name_f]Adara[/name_f] for those volcano, fire themes.

Some other really pretty ones are: [name_f]Neve[/name_f]/[name_f]Niamh[/name_f], [name_f]Amia[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_f]Lotta[/name_f], [name_f]Lia[/name_f]

Yeah I’m still looking xD I’m going to hold off settling on one and make a list of my favorites. Whatever feels right will hopefully distinguish itself after a bit. In the meantime​ I’ll be camping out on this thread haha xD

Rabbits, starlings, crows, willow trees, birch trees and silver maples are all important to me. And so is the sky and the wind and rivers and oceans, fog, sun, moon, rain and snow… And good stories. And space. Strength and courage. I’m a spring baby and an aries, born at night. But I haven’t had much luck feeling a connection with names I’ve come across with those things as inspiration… Could be several gems I’m missing though xD I would love for my name to have a personal message!

Evie is really sweet and I love eeve the Pokémon xD Also Nova makes me think of supernova which is totally awesome! Putting them both on the list xD

I have actually done this myself, and it sounds like similar reasons to you. Your name can totally bring inspiration to your life and help you define who you are. So good for you :slight_smile:
I dont know if it’s your style, but have you looked at color names? Colors can be symbolic of certain favourite things, memories. Same for flowers and gemstones, but maybe thats just my thing.

My favorites here a Una and Rue. I like Rue the best. But they’re all awesome! And both making a home on the list for sure! xD <3

Also just realised I left something out when talking about my inspirations yesterday! Maybe not helpful for name finding but I ADORE moths. Not so much a butterfly fan cause their bodies look too buggish for me. Moths are like tiny puppies with wings though xD

Flowers I’ve been heavily into… Haven’t tried gemstones. Think anyone would raise a brow if I introduced myself as Bloodstone? Haha seriously it’s a good idea though! I actually haven’t dabbled in colours or gems yet but I’m up it! xD <3

It’s really cool to get some encouragement form someone who has made such a change in their own lives. So far it’s been a fantastic journey of self discovery!

Sonnet and Phoenix are may favorites here. And I’m kind of slowly warming up to Onyx… also Sonnet lead me to Fable. More for the list xD
