From the pronunciation guide of L-EYE-dah, I’d think that the name is three syllables (Elyda) rather than two. Am I mistaking this? Or is it pronounced LYE-dah?

Yes , I think that’s the best decision ! I do understand how people seeing her name first written down might think it was [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] with a typo but [name_f]Lida[/name_f] is a variation of [name_f]Leda[/name_f] and is pronounced [name_u]Lee[/name_u] -da so I don’t think will really help. There is [name_u]Lyle[/name_u] and [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] too --/ all things considered, I think sticking with [name_f]Lyda[/name_f] is best

At first glance, I could understand why [name_f]Lyda[/name_f] would look like [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] to some. However, I read [name_f]Lyda[/name_f] and pronounced it L-eye-duh when I saw it. I think [name_f]Lida[/name_f] would be too commonly pronounced [name_u]LEE[/name_u]-duh. I honestly think keeping it [name_f]Lyda[/name_f] is your best option, unless you think the spelling [name_f]Lida[/name_f] suits her better. Both names are beautiful, but I still think you’d have more trouble with [name_f]Lida[/name_f].

[name_u]Love[/name_u] your daughters name! My daughters name is [name_f]Alida[/name_f] ([name_m]Ah[/name_m]-lie-duh) and we call her [name_f]Lida[/name_f] all the time. I love her name, but run into the problem of people calling her [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-lee-duh. It’s a super easy fix to correct them though. I think either way you spell it there will be issues.

I think you should leave it rather than change to [name_f]Lida[/name_f]. I like most everyone else would assume [name_f]Lida[/name_f] was Lid-dah or [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-dah

I think the only option to ensure most people pronounce it correctly first time would be Lydah but even then you might get Lye-DAH (emphasis on the second syllable) instead of Lie-dah
