Channary means “moon-faced girl”. What is your opinion on the name? I really like the combo Channary [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], any middle names for it?

I’m not sure how to pronounce it. [name_f]My[/name_f] immediate association was [name_m]Black[/name_m] [name_f]Canary[/name_f], who is a part of the DC universe. I’m neutral about the name itself and haven’t formed a real opinion yet. I also feel like Channary [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is perhaps a bit mouthful with all the R’s, but it is pretty.

I think “moon-faced” is a really unfortunate meaning in all honesty… But Channary [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is sweet, albeit a mouthful.

I’m half Khmer, and seeing someone appreciate a Khmer name makes me so glad!

In regards to the meaning, “moon-faced” is considered a compliment. It means you have a beautiful, radiant face (like the moon), and is often seen as a form of being wealthy because it shows you do not have to work out in the sun all day.

Some other names you may like are Chanlina & Chanthavy.

I know someone who is part Cambodian and her middle name is Channary.

At graduation they pronounced it CHAN-na-ree but I don’t know if that’s the correct pronunciation or not

[name_f]My[/name_f] first instinct was that it was a unisex surname, because I am unfamiliar with it. However I love the meaning and though I’m unfamiliar with the pronunciation I think it could be a really lovely name,
