I sighted this name today and my eyes were opened! I haven’t given this name much thought, but it’s really glamorous imo. Reminds me of a confident woman in the city!
Thoughts? Do you prefer Chantal? Different spellings / pronunciation? From a Google search, there could be associations, but I didn’t have an association off the bat so lmk if you do!
I like [name_f]Chantel[/name_f] and [name_f]Chantelle[/name_f] better than [name_f]Chantal[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband absolutely hates this name for no reason and I love it. It reminds me if the [name_u]French[/name_u] word for singing.
It’s not my style but it’s a nice name.
For some reason it also feels a bit dated to the 90’s to me. Similar in feel to [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] or [name_f]Cheryl[/name_f].
I agree that it feels dated to me, probably because I had multiple girls named [name_f]Chantel[/name_f] / [name_f]Chantal[/name_f] in my class in middle/high school but I’ve never met (or even heard of) one older or younger than me. That being said, it’s not a bad name. It does feel very glamorous to me because it reminds me of [name_f]Chanel[/name_f].
It’s a pretty name! I do think it feels a little 80s-90s, but it was never popular enough to feel truly timestamped to that era like [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] or [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] or [name_f]Kaitlin[/name_f].
I prefer [name_f]Chantal[/name_f] because Chantel/Chantelle brings to mind Chanterelle mushrooms slightly.
It’s not my personal style, but I get the appeal. It has a really pretty sound! I don’t have any notable associations with the name, but I do think I like the look of the Chantelle spelling a bit better.
I really love both [name_f]Chantel[/name_f] and [name_f]Chantal[/name_f], although slightly prefer [name_f]Chantel[/name_f]. Not a fan of [name_f]Chantelle[/name_f]. They’re very pretty and glamorous names
I live in the UK and it’s pretty dated here. The usual spelling is Chantelle and the usual pronunciation is shan-TEL. It was fairly popular in the 90s but it’s not popular at all anymore.
Thank you for all the feedback! I sort of am loving the 80s-90s names lately so it makes sense why it appeals to me It also must be more popular in the UK because I didn’t know any Chantels (or the variations) growing up!
I very much like the name [name_f]Chantal[/name_f], and while I prefer it to [name_f]Chantel[/name_f] (which I also prefer to Chantelle) I think [name_f]Chantel[/name_f] is also a pretty name: it has a soft gentle sound but a powerful feeling, which is a great vibe in my opinion. The advantage to a “dated” name is that they’re likely to be the only one in their class, but all the adults will know how to spell and pronounce their names
I think the sound is really appealing but here in the UK where I live it is pretty dated and also used as a sort of stereotypical “chav” name which is a pretty bad connection and it is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of that name. I do understand the appeal though as the sounds are really pretty but depending on where you are in the world I think it is a bit unusable
