In my book, there’s a very minor character who really needs a name.
In the story, there are schools kind of like colleges that are very specialized in certain areas of expertise. These are called the Academies. There are Academies for warriors, spies, and assassins, and others for healing and tracking and stuff like that.
There’s a healing Academy that takes the main character (who was wounded) in to help her. I need a name for one of the teachers at the Academy.
The teacher:
She’s very skilled at healing superficial wounds, but not deep, life threatening wounds. Like bruises, scrapes, cuts, etc. She’s good with teaching, is very strict, but nice. She’s in her mid-fifties, possibly very early sixties, with gray hair that’s always in a bun. She is gentle, but isn’t “sweet”, necessarily. She’s the nice librarian who knows every book and will help you find what you’re looking for, but the second you say anything loudly in the library, she’s the one shooting you the unforgiving, dagger-sharp glare. (She’s not really a librarian; that was figurative.)
Anyhow, I hope you understand what I mean. She’s nice, but gets really strict really fast. She can hold a grudge. She doesn’t have a sense of humor. I hope that kind of sort of made sense.
Anyways, names. Some names I have are:

Neither fit all that well, so I’m hoping for suggestions.
(Right now, I’ll warn you, don’t suggest [name]Agnes[/name]. That will never happen. No matter how much you picture her as an [name]Agnes[/name], I don’t want to here about it. Sorry to all those [name]Agnes[/name]'s out there, but I highly dislike that name)
Haha. Yar! I sort of badly want to be a mod for this board so I can implement some rules to make it work a little better/have people be better satisfied with it "-_-
Anyway, to the question!
What other names are in the story already so we don’t repeat them? Also, what style of names are we going for? Regular modern ones?
The first name I thought of was [name]Helen[/name] and then [name]Minerva[/name] as she sort of sounds like McGonagall. With that in mind:

I have no idea why - maybe it’s the age - but this character really screams ‘classic names’ to me, so…
Other names I’ve used are [name]Ash[/name] (for a girl), [name]Phoenix[/name], [name]Seth[/name], [name]Indigo[/name], and Obsidian. It’s more fantasy than anything else. There’s no technology abd they fight with swords, so it’s not really futuristic. on what you view the future as being like)
Sorry for bumping the thread so early, I just couldn’t continue the story without the name, it was giving me serious writers block, and I have a deadline.

All of these names are awesome, but none of them fit the character perfectly. Keep names on the more unusual side of things (I prefer unusual names) -Yes, yes, I know I should’ve specified that earlier, but oh well. I hadn’t thought to say it then.

[name]Athena[/name] is a good name for the character, although I’m not sure it conveys the age I want…and I would say that [name]Lark[/name] is unisex, too.
[name]How[/name] about “[name]Barton[/name]”? A little nod to [name]Clara[/name] [name]Barton[/name], a famous teacher and nurse who founded the [name]Red[/name] [name]Cross[/name]
No biggie, but what I usually do is ask, make some kind of mostly-fitting filler name and use that, and/or start looking myself. A good way to go is to pick a meaning and find a name from there, it helps with the naming process and characterization. Also, use more than one name forum. SOMEONE will be online.
