I named a background character [name_f]Serenade[/name_f] [name_u]Douglas[/name_u], what are your opinions? She’s a sixth-grader, average height with brown hair with green highlights and brown eyes, a unibrow, very few freckles, she lives in Northern [name_u]California[/name_u]. She’s kind, fun-loving, compassionate, brave, really smart (she is in an eighth-grade math class), and plays the drums. She has roots in [name_f]Canada[/name_f]. I wasn’t sure about [name_f]Serenade[/name_f] at first, but it’s growing on me now. What do you think?

It’s definitely brave! But I think as long as not every character has an equally brave name, it works. Especially if she has a nickname like [name_f]Sera[/name_f] or [name_f]Ada[/name_f].
OOHHHH that name is beautiful!
That’s lovely! I agree with @midwinter; brave names are totally fine in fiction as long as you have a variety of names for characters!
For this story, the characters have either super unusual names or really well known names— two of my main characters are [name_m]Laurus[/name_m] and [name_m]Fred[/name_m], for example.

As long as it doesn’t feel out of place with the other characters’ names, I say go for it!
Love the name. I hope she has a background to match the unique name choice
