I am writing a story with a mc named [name]Alexandra[/name] nn [name]Lexi[/name]. Her brother’s name is [name]Liam[/name].
Opinions of primary characters with names that start with the same letter?

I think it’s fine, so long as the names aren’t too matchy. Like [name]Lily[/name] and [name]Lila[/name] would be too much, in my opinion. [name]Lexi[/name] and [name]Liam[/name] have different sounds, so I think it works. It’s easy to identify them as siblings, since their names are both four letters and begin with L. I think the names sound nice together, as well as on their own.
I think it’s fine if it’s siblings, but just make sure they’re not too simular. You don’t want [name]Shaylee[/name] and [name]Sally[/name] or [name]Mikaela[/name] and [name]Micky[/name], but [name]Liam[/name] and [name]Lexi[/name] is fine.
If they’re not related, I personally can’t stand it.

Have you ever read [name]Gabriel[/name] [name]Garcia[/name] [name]Marquez[/name]–he’ll give you a whole new perspective on naming characters. Crazy man.
Personally, I try so hard to avoid the names of my main characters from starting with the same letter. It’s gotten to the point where I’ve renamed certain characters (even small ones who are only mentioned) a number of times.
I think it’s up to you whether or not you give them names with the same first letter. In the case of [name]Lexi[/name] and [name]Liam[/name], I think it’s fine! But if it doesn’t feel right to you, then change one of them.
It bugs me, personally, but it is something that I can get past.
I think it’s fine. It happens all the time in the real world, and it would make your writing more realistic.
