He was the son of a noble couple before switching places with another boy because he hated the life of a noble.
His name used to be [name_m]Joren[/name_m] [name_m]Fulton[/name_m] [name_u]Finlay[/name_u] before he swapped places with the real [name_u]Declan[/name_u] [name_m]Putnam[/name_m], who then took that name.
He has no middle name.
He is an assassin, but not because of the money or because he enjoys killing people (he really doesn’t). He’s an assassin because it’s a job full of daring and dangerous stunts. Also, he thinks it sounds cool.
The only people he has ever killed were horrible monsters of human beings.

The fact that all of her names, except the last, start with M is no coincidence. Her mother’s name is Fantine Fabienne Florence Flavia Viliami and her father’s is Kaspar Kassian Kylen Kyson Viliami. It’s a name trend that was popular when her parents were born and that they decided to continue with her.
She is an only child.
She has a whopping three fiances because her parents and each set of grandparents promised her to the sons of friends of theirs.
She poisons one fiance, Hamlin Pomeroy, but isn’t able to poison the other two. Octavian Penrose is a nice guy, just not a person that she would be happy marrying, so killing him was never the plan. Nereus Severin is a terrible human being, but far too clever to poison, though she would love to.
She runs away after poisoning Hamlin and doesn’t intend to go back.
She is very tall and naturally thinly built, which causes one of Declan’s first thoughts about her to be that she looks like a twig.
She is somewhat clumsy and that usually doesn’t bother her.
Sometimes, when things go wrong, she shouts “Curses!” Her first line of the book is actually “Ow! Curses!” Right after she falls out of a tree.
She originally had a fourth fiance, Joren Fulton Finlay, but that engagement was called off.
Ironically, she does end up marrying that fourth fiance, now known as Declan Putnam, and they get married on their own free will.

She has wanted to be a queen her whole life. More than that, she wants her future child to rule a kingdom. This is due to her knowledge of her ancestry and that one of her ancestors was a king who was overthrown.
She loves violence, but is actually unlikely to commit any herself, as she hates getting her hands dirty.
She is a sociopath, as are most of her family members. This is both genetics and a curse.
She is dangerously clever.
She is also one of my only villains who actually gets her way. Sure, she fails to get rid of her stepchildren and her current husband banishes her from Meracien, but she goes to Phibia and wins the heart of the king there. They have children of their own and their descendants still likely rule Phibia today.
She is the grandmother of Prince Daniel Algernon, the major antagonist of The Princess And Her Servant.

Nereus Severin
His middle name is Wilhelm.
He was the fiance chosen for Melyssandre by her paternal grandparents.
His plan is to do away with her right after their marriage. That way, he’ll still get her parents’ estate.
He is insanely clever, which makes him a major threat to anyone and everyone he doesn’t like.
The only reason he teams up with Octavian Penrose is to have tons of time alone with him and gain his full trust. That way, it will be easy to murder him and claim it was some accident. With both Octavian and Hamlin gone, Nereus would be the last fiance standing and the one Melyssandre would have to marry.
He planned to somehow get rid of Hamlin, but Melyssandre did that first.
His birthday is April 9th, 1421.
Octavian Penrose
His middle name is Aurelius.
He is very nice, but doesn’t have much of a brain.
If Melyssandre was absolutely forced to marry one of the three, she’d marry Octavian because at least he isn’t cruel or a brute.
Nereus tries to get rid of him several times, but Octavian in strangely lucky and actually survives. Though, he doesn’t realize for a long time that Nereus is literally trying to end him.
He might be a more minor character, but he is important in the fact that he helps convince King Viridios to banish Queen Lavanda. Why does he do this? Simple: He was asked to. No strings attached. No deal, no nothing. He just does it because he was asked to.
As shown above, he is very cooperative. When Melyssandre explains that she isn’t going to marry him, he is pretty much fine with it. The only reason he was going to in the first place was because his parents told him he should.
Of the three fiances, he is the only one to make it to the end of the book. He ultimately finds a nice girl who actually wants to marry him and ends up very happy.

Her parents, Malort and [name_f]Ostara[/name_f], embrace Ostara’s family’s way of life (light magic), much to the chagrin of her paternal uncle and paternal grandmother, who embrace dark magic.
She’s the eldest of three daughters.
She and her sisters, [name_u]Willow[/name_u] and [name_u]Holly[/name_u], are each named after trees in the Celtic zodiac that correspond with their birthdays. The same goes for a few of Rowan’s cousins.
Her father and uncle are twins. Malort is the younger twin (by about 3 minutes), and sucked at dark magic from an early age.
She and [name_u]Willow[/name_u] became involved in foiling some of their uncle’s evil plans after discovering he’s been trying (and epically failing) to murder an entire village of magical creatures.
Her uncle once tried to become a Death Eater. However, he’s such an inept dark wizard that the Death Eaters laughed in his face and practically told him to get lost.

She’s of half-Irish descent on her father’s side and half-Japanese descent on her mother’s side.
Her mother, Sumire, died during childbirth and her father, Trevor O’Malley, who’d already suffered plenty in life beforehand, couldn’t cope with the loss and resorted to alcoholism to mediate his feelings, essentially giving up on life and making minimal effort to adequately raise his daughter, who basically had to raise and teach herself basic skills.
Kaminari’s current surname, Tsuchiya, is her mother’s maiden name.
She’s a very masculine-presenting lesbian who enjoys dressing in drag, both privately and in public shows/contests.
Despite her hypermasculinity, I’d say Kaminari has a healthy combination of both feminine and masculine qualities. For instance, she possesses the “feminine” qualities of compassion and nurturance, such as when she was at an animal shelter and was told by an employee that a cat had never been adopted due to his disability and Kaminari began bawling her eyes out, adopting the cat on the spot and naming him “Mr. Jazzy Paws.” She’s also preoccupied with her appearance and investment in interpersonal discourse between others- think of reality TV shows like “The Real Housewives” and all that. On the flip side, her “masculine” qualities usually arise when she or a loved one is in peril, showing a lot of courage to physically fight, as she spends a considerable amount of her free time working out to build muscle.
She has a love-hate relationship with insects. She’s freaked out by them and flounders to kill a spider with a shoe, but she also enjoys flicking snails at others to watch them shriek in terror.
Kaminari runs a DeviantArt account under a generic username to avoid any interaction with fans or haters. The type of art she posts ranges from extremely detailed and well-drawn paid requests to low-brow, cartoonish stick figures saying and doing weird things.
