Character troubles

[/QUOTE][/QUOTE][/QUOTE]I’m at a bit of a crossroads here. I already have all the characters to my book I’m writing, but the problem is that I’m not sure whether I like the name for my main character. Her name’s [name]Violet[/name] [name]Hartly[/name]; I like the last name, but I’m just not sure if her first name flows with it. Help!

To those of you who are a little confused; I’m due in October, I’m just basing the girl’s name off my baby.

[name]Violet[/name] [name]Hartley[/name] is nice, but a little T heavy. Maybe something more flowy? Some surname ideas:

Oxbury
Edwards
[name]Louis[/name]
[name]Campbell[/name]
[name]Hamilton[/name]
O’[name]Hara[/name]
[name]Ingram[/name]
[name]Percy[/name]

[name]Hope[/name] that helps!

  • [name]Athena[/name]

I agree with aj…a little ‘T’ heavy. Also both are 2 syllables and the second syllables both start with the same letter ‘L’. This often works, but sometimes it doesn’t. JMO. I’d offer some names, but I am terrible at coming up with names…that is why I use this site A TON. ;O)

It depends on what kind of character you’re built, as to whether the name fits. A consonant-heavy name like [name]Violet[/name] [name]Hartley[/name] will need a hefty character to hold up to it. Conversely, you could have built a soft, frail character that will eventually grow to fit her name. Personally, I like it. It rings well.

If you don’t like it, just use the search and change feature in your editing program and change the name. If you decide you don’t like the change, change it back. The joys of modern word processing!
